Ryoji Chubachi is President of Sony Corporation and CEO of Sonys Global Electronics Business. He is also Representative Corporate Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Sony Corporation.
Dr. Chubachi has served in a number of positions since joining Sony in 1977. He was COO in charge of Micro Systems Network Company (EMCS) from June 2004 and President, Production Strategy Group from July 2004. Prior to that, he served as NC President, Micro Systems Network Company from June 2003, NC President, Core Technology & Network Company (CNC) from April 2002, and President, Recording Media Company, CNC from April 1999.
Dr. Chubachi started his career in the Magnetic Products Group, where he was involved with developing magnetic tapes. He was significantly involved with developing 8mm video tape and contributed to produce 8mm video camera, which became one of Sonys leading products. In 1989 he headed to Sony Magnetic Products, Inc. of America in Alabama. After his assignment in the United States, he served as General Manager, Video Tape Division, Recording Media Products Group from 1992 to 1994, and General Manager, Video Tape Department, Recording Media Division, Recording Media & Energy Company from 1994 to 1998.
He received a B.A., an M.A. and a Ph.D. from School of Engineering, Tohoku University.
