Game Changing Product Portfolio
In the 15 years since the original PlayStation first revolutionized the world of gaming, Sony Computer Entertainment America has continued to set the benchmark for innovation in home entertainment experiences. Part of its success can be attributed to the advanced technology behind its multi-platforms, each of which has made its mark on the industry for offering consumers future-proof entertainment that they can enjoy today and 10 years from now.
- PlayStation®3: The PlayStation 3 entertainment system resets the bar for entertainment at an incredible value, serving as the true entertainment hub for the living room and the must-have console for gamers. In addition to best-in-class content offerings, the PS3 combines one of the industrys best Blu-ray Disc players with built-in benefits such as WiFi and an Internet browser, 160GB or 320GB of storage for photos, movies and music, and free access to the PlayStation Network and future-proofing firmware updates -- all in one device.
- PlayStation®Move: PlayStation Move, the new motion controller for PS3, launched in North America on September 19, 2010 and, in its first 30 days of availability, shipped over one million units in North and Latin America alone. PlayStation Move offers the most immersive gaming experience for the PS3 system by fusing realistic, high-definition gaming along with accurate and easy-to-use controls. By incorporating the PlayStation®Eye camera with PlayStation Move, the users full range of motion is captured, resulting in ultimate control over how one plays the games, as well as the opportunity to project the players image into select games for new augmented-reality experiences.
- PlayStation®2: The PlayStation 2, in production since 1999, continues to be one of the worlds most popular video game systems, with more than 50 million units sold in North America. During its lifespan, the PS2 system not only has pushed video gaming to the forefront of entertainment, but also introduced the concept of an entertainment system becoming a hub in the living room. The PlayStation 2 system was the first home computer entertainment system to integrate DVD technology, and the rapid growth of the install base helped establish DVD as the standard optical disc media format worldwide. Featuring both DVD and CD playback capabilities, the PlayStation 2 system has served as the entertainment centerpiece in many living rooms, accounting for one in three homes across the U.S.
- PSP® (PlayStation®Portable): The PSP system offers consumers many reasons to take their entertainment on the roadwhether its to watch a movie, listen to music, view their photos, play games or connect to the Internet.
- PlayStation®Vita: The PlayStation Vita, launching on February 22, 2012, is a new portable gaming and entertainment system that offers a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real world context. Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity, together with various applications, including Facebook, foursquare, Skype and Twitter, will enable infinite possibilities for users to “encounter,” “connect,” “discover,” “share” and “play” with friends wherever they are. This next-generation system also includes a 5-inch OLED front display screen, front touch screen and rear touch pad, front and rear cameras, and dual analog sticks.
- PlayStation®Network (PSN): PSN is the only online console service with over 80 million registered accounts worldwide and continues to evolve with tons of great new content and services such as digital comics and minis, and original programming.
