San Francisco, CA - April 2, 2003 -- Metreon ? A Sony Entertainment Center unveils Sony Eco at Metreon on April 13, 2003, to promote Sony?s vision of creating a world in which Sony technology and products contribute positively to reducing the modern world?s impact on the global environment.

Inspired by Sony Eco Plaza in Tokyo, Metreon?s interactive exhibit will feature informative displays about Sony?s environmental initiatives, and will illustrate Sony?s vision to promote conservation activities globally.

"Sony has long recognized that environmental conservation is one of the most important issues that the world faces,? said Mark Small, vice president, Corporate Environment, Safety and Health, Sony Electronics. ?We give environmental conservation full consideration in all aspects of our operations from our full line of Energy Star compliant products, to our environmental award-winning manufacturing operations through our leadership role in recycling as a charter member in the EPA's Plug-In To Recycling program."

Metreon extends Sony?s vision by inviting retailers and community organizations to collaborate on the creation of the Sony Eco exhibit, which will address the global concerns of the Bay Area community. Groups involved in Sony Eco at Metreon include: Motherboard, Inc., Electric Time Car Rentals, The San Francisco Department of the Environment, Friends of the Urban Forest, Surfrider Foundation, The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, San Francisco Conservation Corps? Youth in Action Program, and The Artist-in-Residence Program at NorCal Sanitary Fill.

"Metreon is proud to support Sony?s vision," said Eva Miranda, senior vice president and general manager of Metreon. "Through our own conservation efforts, and through educational programs like Sony Eco at Metreon, we are able to share our company-wide commitment with the community".

At the April 13 kick-off event, guests will have an opportunity to melt blocks of Styrofoam with Sony?s all-natural Limonene (an oil obtained from citrus fruit peels that Sony developed as part of a procedure for recycling Styrofoam), win eco-friendly prizes sponsored by Motherboard Inc., and learn about ways they can help the earth from local community groups. In addition to these educational activities, guests can enjoy the Jelly Belly Earth art studio, send digital postcards, and take rides provided by Electric Time Car Rentals.
