Interview with Les Stroud, creator of Survivorman

2:06pm, January 9th

Les Stroud

Survival expert and film-maker Les Stroud, host of the television show Survivorman, gave a lively (and quite useful) presentation about how Sony products have been a part of his show and his creative work. After speaking highly of the HDR-SR12 High Definition Handycam Recorder and VAIO AW-Series notebook, he even walked though how you can put together a movie of your own using Movie Studio (though of course he uses Vegas Pro for work).

We got to sit down with him after the talk and ask him a couple questions of our own:

Q: What technology here at the Sony booth has impressed you the most?
A: In the short time span I've been here, I walked 60 feet and I saw 9 things that I want. The big thing was OLED - that was jaw-dropping. As soon as you see it - your mind goes crazy with it, thinking "I know how that could go..."

Q: What are you looking forward to in the new year?
A: A lot. I'm looking forward to a lot of new adventure production and I'm looking forward to my new film and music series.

Q: How do you see technology affecting your work?
A: Technology is my work. What i do is all highly technical, even if it is rough or rugged. I love juxtaposition in life - I enjoy coming home and turning on a Bravia HDTV and watching a Blu-ray and at the same time i enjoy climbing into a canoe in the middle of nowhere.

The fact is that technology is making much of my creative adventure possible.
