FIU810/PERS, FIU600/W, FIU600/ WIN : Using Password Provider on Certain Websites & Applications
(Note: FIU600/WIN and FIU810/PERS has been discontinued and is no longer available)

We have received calls and emails from current Puppy owners about websites which do not appear to be recognized by the Password Provider component of the Puppy Suite software. Follow the troubleshooting steps below if you are having similar problems.

  • First, be sure you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 or older. Puppy Suite is not compatible with other browsers like Firefox or Opera.
  • Second, be sure you have the ‘Enable Third-Party Browser Extensions' option checked in the Tools menu-> Internet Options->Advanced tab.
  • Third, if you are using the FIU600, be sure you have installed the Hotfix for Puppy Suite by downloading it here .
  • Finally, if you are still having problems, use these steps to register your information:

1. Enter your username, password, etc. information as usual.
2. Hold down the ALT key (or whatever key you have assigned for password registration).
3. Left-click in the password dialog box.
4. The ‘Register Password' window should appear. Enter a label and click ‘Register'.
5. When you return to the site or application, you should be prompted for your fingerprint. (If not, press F12.) The information will be entered automatically. However, you will need to click the “Sign In” or “OK” (i.e.) button manually.

If these steps fail to resolve your problems, please call our Technical Support Center at 866-347-7669 or email us at fiuinfo@am.sony.com
FIU810/PERS: Messaging error in microsoft outlook
(Note: FIU810/PERS has been discontinued and is no longer available)

Some users have reported receiving an error when attempting to digitally sign an e-mail using the FIU-810 token's digital certificate capabilities. After choosing the certificate to sign with, Outlook returns the error: “The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persist, please restart Outlook.”

In order to fix this, please follow these steps:
1. Open Outlook. Open the [Tools] menu, choose [Options] and click on the [Security] tab.
2. Click [Settings] in the ‘Encrypted E-mail section', and [Delete] any existing settings.
3. Click OK.
4. Close Outlook.
5. Restart Outlook.
6. Create a new email message.
7. Add a digital signature to the email. You will be prompted to choose your certificate for this digital signature. (If you only have one certificate available, this may not occur.)
8. Send the email. You will now be able to sign any message.

The procedures above create a default security setting name in Outlook. According to our investigations, if we use the default security setting ‘name' that Outlook automatically sets, the signature process is successful. If we enter a specific security setting name in the [Tool]-[Option]-[Security] dialog box, the error appears.
FIU810/PERS: Drive Letter Mapping and Windows XP
(Note: FIU810/PERS has been discontinued and is no longer available)

If you are experiencing errors changing the size of the private storage area on the FIU-810 unit, be sure that your network drives are not mapped to drive letters immediately after your CD-ROM drive. In Windows XP, USB mass storage devices are automatically assigned drive letters immediately after the optical drives; therefore, if you have network drives mapped to these letters, there will be a conflict. To fix this, you will need to remap your network drives. Windows XP, by default, maps network drives much later in the ‘alphabet.'

This is a known issue with Windows XP and all USB mass storage devices, not just the FIU-810 unit. Please see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 297694: See details
FIU600/W, FIU600/ WIN: Installing Antivirus/System Utility Software Over PUPPY Suite 600
(Note: FIU600/WIN has been discontinued and is no longer available)

We have received several support calls from customers who experienced login problems after installing Norton Antivirus over their installation of Puppy Suite 600. If you plan on installing any antivirus or system utility, we strongly recommend uninstalling the Puppy Suite software first, and then re-installing it once the utility software has been installed. Don't forget to reinstall the patch (link) below as well.

Remember that you can back-up your settings (stored passwords, fingerprints, etc.) by using the [Create Recovery File] option under [Start My Profile]. This file can be stored to your hard drive or removable media. When you next install Puppy Suite, simply choose the [Recover User Information] instead of the [Register User] option after the first reboot.
