1.0 inch 20.2 MP Exmor R® CMOS Image Sensor

The massive 20.2 MP 1.0 inch Exmor R® CMOS sensor captures ultra-high definition images that take full advantage of the camera’s sharp Carl Zeiss® lens. A bigger sensor captures more light, resulting in reduced noise levels and smooth, detailed low-light images.

Carl Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar® lens

The F2.8 Carl Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar® T* has a wide aperture, which allows more light to enter the lens. The unique T* multilayer lens coating gives you sharp, true-color image reproduction without flare or ‘ghosting’. The wide aperture also enables you to control foreground and background blur levels, so you can be more creative with your photos.

BIONZ X™ processor

The camera’s BIONZ X™ image processor enables high-speed, high-precision processing of the information coming from the CMOS sensor. The image processor also helps the camera deliver a wide ISO range that extends up to ISO 25600, for incredible detail all the way through to the highest sensitivity setting.

XGA OLED Tru-Finder™

With 100% frame coverage, wide viewing angle (33.1˚) and high eyepoint (23.3 mm), the OLED Tru-Finder™ shows you real-time effects before you press the shutter. The hi-res, hi-contrast OLED viewfinder can display a range of information including exposure levels, brightness, white balance, histogram, shooting information and face recognition.

Full HD 1080/60p video

The camera’s high-resolution sensor and the ability to shoot at a 24p True Cinema frame rate, gives you full creative control of your movies. And with AVCHD Progressive 2.0 supporting 60p (NTSC) recording, you’ll be able to capture ultra-smooth, visually stunning Full HD video.

One-touch remote and one-touch sharing

One-touch remote lets you use your smartphone or tablet as a viewfinder and remote control for a digital camera, and one-touch sharing lets you transfer your photos and videos from your camera. Either way, by installing Imaging Edge Mobile app to your NFC-enabled Android smartphone or tablet, you can avoid complex set-up sequences and establish wireless connection simply by touching your device to the camera. You are now ready to control your camera from your smartphone to take a photo from a previously out-of-reach spot, or simply be in your own group shot, as well as transfer them instantly to your smartphone for sharing on SNS. No NFC? No problem. You can also pair the devices manually.

Advanced aspherical lens (AA lens) technology

AA lens technology maximizes portability without sacrificing imaging power. The lens combines four aspherical elements with one ED glass element to deliver high-precision shots and breathtaking rendering without the bulky design usually associated with similar DSLR lenses.

Direct Drive SSM

The Direct Drive SSM (Super Sonicwave Motor) system minimizes the distance the lens has to travel when focusing. In doing so, it shortens the overall focus time to enable smooth, high-speed AF across the entire telephoto range.
