The C:31:72 self-diagnosis code appears on the LCD screen.

When the self-diagnosis display reflects the C:31:72 code, try doing the following:

IMPORTANT: Do not perform this procedure if moisture condensation has occurred. In this state, the tape may stick to the head drum and be damaged or your VCR may not operate correctly.

  1. Remove the cassette tape.
  2. Reinsert the cassette tape.
  3. While pressing the green button, set the POWER switch to ON .

    NOTE: The POWER/CHARGE lamp on the front turns green.

  4. Press PLAY.

    If the problem persists after completing the above, proceed with the following:

  5. Press the STOP button.
  6. Remove the cassette tape.
  7. Disconnect the power source for 10 seconds.
  8. Reconnect the power source.
  9. Install a different cassette tape.
  10. While pressing the green button, set the POWER switch to ON.

    NOTE: The POWER/CHARGE lamp on the front turns green.

  11. Press PLAY.

If the problem persists after removing power from the unit, press the RESET button on your VCR with a sharp-pointed object while the power is turned on. Afterwards, try playing the tape again.

NOTE: If you press the RESET button, all settings, with the exception of the LCD profile settings, are reset back to the factory settings.

If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.
