IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

The IC recorder may quit operating if connected to an Apple® Macintosh® computer (Mac OS® v10.4 or later) and the Spotlight Search function is used. The ms-lock-dir archive attribute folder may be generated in the IC recorder. If this folder is found in the IC recorder, the system will go into an infinite loop, the IC recorder will not work and the update of the database cannot be completed. To resolve this issue, if you happen to have a computer that is compatible with Windows® XP or Windows Vista® operating system, do the following to uncheck the archive attribute:

Computers using Windows XP:

  1. Display all files.
  2. Connect the IC recorder to the computer.
  3. Display the Folder Options dialog box.
  4. Open a folder.
  5. Click Tools on the menu bar and click Folder Options.
  6. In the advanced settings of the View tab, check Show hidden files and folders in the hidden files and folders.
  7. Click OK to close the folder options dialog box.
  8. Open the IC recorder drive from My Computer.
  9. Select the General tab in the Properties dialog box.
  10. Click Advanced under Attributes to open the Advanced Attributes dialog box.
  11. Uncheck Folder is ready for archiving.
  12. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
  13. Disconnect the IC recorder from the computer and return the settings of the folder option as necessary.

Computers using Windows Vista:

  1. Display all files.
  2. Connect the IC recorder to a Windows Vista computer.
  3. Display the Folder Options dialog box.
  4. Open a folder.
  5. Click Organize on the top left of the folder window and click Folder and Search Options.
  6. The Folder Options dialog box appears.
  7. In the Advanced settings of the View tab, check Show hidden files and folders in the hidden files and folders.
  8. Click OK to close the Folder Options dialog box.
  9. Open the IC Recorder drive from My Computer.
  10. If the Spotlight-V100 folder exists under ROOT (first hierarchy), open the folder.
  11. If the ms-lock-dir folder exists in the Spotlight-V100 folder, open Properties by right-clicking.
  12. If the ms-lock-dir folder does not exist, this is not the correct solution for the problem.
  13. Select the General tab in the Properties dialog box.
  14. Click Advanced under Attributes to open the Advanced attributes dialog box.
  15. Uncheck Folder is ready for archiving and click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
  16. Disconnect the IC recorder from the computer and return the settings of the folder option as necessary.

NOTES:

  • Do not format the IC recorder after performing the above operation. If the IC recorder is formatted, the ms-lock-dir folder will be erased and the measures will be canceled.
  • When the IC recorder is formatted, a dash (-) will be displayed.

If the issue is still unresolved after doing the troubleshooting steps, service may be required.
