What is required to view 3D video images on a Sony 3D television?

The following are required to view 3D video images on a Sony® 3D television:

  • A pair of Sony 3D Active or Passive Glasses
  • NOTES:

    • Refer to the instructions manual to see if your 3D TV uses a passive or active 3D glasses. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
    • 3D glasses are supplied with 3D integrated TVs  and must be purchased optionally with 3D Ready TVs.

    • Only 3D glasses manufactured by Sony are supported for use with Sony 3D Televisions.
  • A Sony 3D sync transmitter

    NOTES:

    • The sync transmitter is built in on 3D integrated TVs and it is sold separately for 3D Ready TVs.

    • An external 3D transmitter is not required for passive 3D TVs.
  • One of the following 3D sources:

    • An antenna or a CATV connection to receive the 3D digital signal for 3D HDTV programming.
    • An HDTV Set-Top Box (Digital Satellite receiver or Cable Box) connected to the Sony 3D television using a high-speed HDMI® cable to receive the 3D digital signal for 3D HDTV programming.
    • A stereoscopic 3D capable Blu-ray Disc® player or PlayStation3™ console connected using a high-speed HDMI cable and stereoscopic 3D Blu-ray Disc movie or game.

      NOTE: The PS3® console and some Blu-ray Disc players will require the latest system software (firmware) update to play 3D movies and 3D games. Downloads are posted on your model support page.
