What types of files can I use in Sound Organizer?

The following shows the file formats that can be handled in Sound Organizer:

File formats supported for importing and playback:

Files

  • WAV format (extension: .wav)
  • MP3 format (extension: .mp3)
  • AAC format (extensions: .3gp, .mp4, .m4a)
  • HE-AAC format (extensions: 3gp, .mp4, .m4a)
  • WMA format (extension: .wma)
  • LPEC format (extensions: dvf, .msv)

NOTES:

  • Copyright-protected WMA format and AAC format (extension: .m4p) files cannot be imported.
  • Apple Lossless format files cannot be imported.
  • You may not be able to play, display, or edit properly MP3 format files with a variable bit-rate (VBR). Furthermore, other MP3 format files that were created in, for example, another company's software may not be able to be imported properly.

Music CD

Select from the following file formats when importing songs from a music CD.

  • WAV format
  • MP3 format

Podcast

  • AAC format (extension: .m4a)
  • MP3 format (extension: .mp3)
  • WMA format (extension: .wma)

File formats supported for conversion

When transferring files to an IC recorder, convert them to one of the following formats.

  • WAV format (extension: .wav, bit-rate: 1,411 kbps [16 bit/44.1 kHz/2-channel])
  • MP3 format (extension .mp3, bit-rate: 320, 256, 224, 192, 160, 128, 112, 96, 64, or 48 kbps)

File formats supported for editing

  • WAV format (extension: .wav)
  • MP3 format (extension: .mp3)
  • LPEC format*(extension: dvf, .msv)
  • AAC format**(extension: .3gp, .mp4, .m4a)
  • WMA format**(extension: .wma)

NOTES:

  • * Track marks are added after the file is converted to WAV or MP3 format.
  • ** The files are saved after they are converted to WAV or MP3 format.
  • Files that were not recorded with an IC recorder may not be able to be divided and combined.
