IMPORTANT: This solution applies to the HD-PC5 and HD-PC5U model hard drives.

Follow these steps if the hard drive is not being detected when connected to a TV, a Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) player, a PlayStation®3 (PS3™) console or other compatible A/V device.

NOTE: A seperate solution is available if the same issue is occuring when the hard drive is connected to a computer .

  • Make sure the LED power light is on. This is an indication that the drive is being powered by the A/V device and it is on.
  • Make sure that the device being used is a supported device.

NOTE: Not all A/V products with a USB input support the use of a hard drive.

  • Make sure that a USB hub is not being used.
  • Initialize or format the hard drive based on the requirements of the device being used. Initializing the drive will delete any previously recorded data.

NOTE: FAT32 is the required format on the PS3 gaming system.
