How to setup a Wi-Fi network connection on the tablet to use a Static IP Address.

IMPORTANT: While it is possible to setup a Wi-Fi network connection to use a Static IP Address, by doing so you will be configuring a hard connection to that specific Wi-Fi network and will lose the ability to quickly and dynamically connect to other Wi-Fi networks.

  1. On the desktop, tap the Home icon. Image
  2. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Apps & Widgets icon. Image
  3. In the Apps & Widgets screen, tap the Settings icon. Image
  4. In the Settings screen, tap to select Wi-Fi.
  5. In the Wi-Fi screen, tap the wireless network you wish to connect to using a Static IP Address. Image

    NOTE:  If the wireless network you wish to modify is already connected, you can either tap to Forget that network connection completely, or tap and hold and then select Modify Network in order to reconnect using a Static IP Address.

  6. At the [Wi-Fi Network Name] prompt, tap to place a check in the box next to Show advanced options. Image
  7. Tap the field next to Password, and then use the on-screen keyboard to enter the network password. Image
  8. Scroll down and tap the down-arrow next to DHCP, and then tap Static. Image
  9. Scroll down and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the desired Static IP address and the appropriate Gateway. Image
  10. Scroll down and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the Network prefix length, DNS 1 and DNS2 settings appropriate for the Static IP address.
  11. Once all the appropriate Static IP address settings have been entered, tap Connect.

The tablet will now connect to the selected Wi-Fi network using the specified Static IP address settings.
