Image stabilization (aka SteadyShot® technology) built into a lens can enhance performance because the optical system is designed to suit the lens specifications. However, image stabilization built into a camera delivers the same performance because data from the lens is sent to the camera body to help control camera shake. There is really not much performance difference between image stabilization built into a lens or camera.
- α (alpha) DSLR and SLT cameras use in-camera image stabilization.
- α (alpha) NEX cameras use in-lens image stabilization.
