How to change the default search provider in the Internet Explorer 10 browser.

Bing® is set as the default search provider in the Internet Explorer® browser. Follow the steps to change to a different default search provider.

  1. In the new Windows User Interface (UI) Start screen, click the Desktop tile. Image
  2. On the Desktop, click the Internet Explorer icon.
  3. In the Internet Explorer window, in the upper-right corner of the window, click the Tools icon. Image
  4. Click Internet Options. Image
  5. In the Internet Options windows, click Manage add-ons.
  6. In the Manage Add-ons window, click the Search Providers tab.
  7. On the Search Providers tab, click Find More Search Providers. Image

    NOTE: A new Internet Explorer browser window will open.

  8. In the Internet Explorer Gallery browser window, click to select the desired search provider. Image

    NOTE: For this example we will select Google Search.

  9. On the next page, click the Add to Internet Explorer button.
  10. In the Add Search Provider pop-up, click to place a check in the box next to Make this my default search provider, and then click the Add button. Image
  11. Close all open windows.
  12. On the Desktop, click the Internet Explorer icon.
  13. In the Internet Explorer window, in the upper-right corner of the window click Tools, and on the menu, click Manage add-ons.
  14. In the Manage Add-ons window, click the Search Providers tab.
  15. On the Search Providers tab, the search provider you just added should now be listed as the default search provider.
