How to setup and use the Guest Mode.

With the Guest Mode app you can create personalized configurations on the tablet for different users to manage which applications and widgets they can access. Follow these steps to setup and use the Guest Mode application.

IMPORTANT:

  • The Guest Mode app will not be available on a Sony Tablet S model (SGPT11) unless the tablet has been upgraded to the Android 4.0.3 Release 5 operating system version.
  • Once a system update is available, you will be able to install it using the System Update feature .
  • If the Android 4.0.3 Release 5 operating system version is not yet available for your region, it will be made available for all regions in the very near future.
  1. On the desktop, tap the Home icon. Image
  2. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Guest Mode icon. Image
  3. In the Guest Mode screen, tap the Start button. Image
  4. In the Add Guest Mode 1 screen, use the on-screen keyboard to enter the desired Mode name, and then tap the Next button. Image
  5. In the Add Guest Mode 2 screen, tap to select either Limited applications or Unlimited applications, and then tap the Next button. Image

    NOTE:  If you select Unlimited applications, skip to step 8.

  6. In the Guest Mode screen, tap to select the applications and gadgets you want to be available in Guest Mode.
  7. Once all desired applications and gadgets have been selected, tap the Save icon. Image
  8. In the Add Guest Mode 3 screen, tap to select Set code if you want to require an unlock password, or No unlock code if you do not want to require an unlock password. Image

    NOTE:  If you select No unlock code, skip to step 13.

  9. At the Confirm prompt, tap OK. Image
  10. In the Guest Mode screen, use the on-screen keyboard to enter the desired Unlock code, and then tap the Next button. Image

    NOTE:  The Unlock code must be between 4 and 16 characters.

  11. In the next screen, use the on-screen keyboard to enter the same Unlock code, and then tap the OK button. Image
  12. In the Secret answer screen, use the on-screen keyboard to enter a question and answer combination that can be used in case you forget the unlock code, and then tap the Done button. Image

    IMPORTANT: Be sure to remember the Unlock Code and to make the Secret Question something that you will also not forget. If you do forget the Unlock Code, and the Secret answer you are prompted for does not help you remember, you will need to perform a Factory Data Reset procedure if possible, or a Forced Factory Data Reset procedure if not.

  13. In the Add Guest Mode 4 screen, review the settings you have made, and then tap the Done button. Image
  14. In the Guest Mode screen, tap the new Mode name you just created, tap the New mode button to add another Mode name, or tap the Home icon to return to the desktop home screen. Image
