The tablet is not detected on the computer when connecting using a USB cable.

NOTES:

  • Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the USB connection status after completing each step. Once the tablet is detected, proceed to step 5.
  • Apple® Macintosh® computer users will have to install the Android File Transfer software from http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ in order for the tablet to be recognized.
  • Because the tablet uses the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) to connect to the computer by default, you will need to make sure to be using the Windows® XP, Windows Vista® or the Windows® 7 operating system on your computer and have the Windows Media® Player 11 (or later) software already installed.
  1. Attempt to connect the tablet to the computer via the USB connector of the AC Adaptor cable:
    1. Disconnect the USB adaptor end of the AC Adaptor cable from the AC Adaptor plug.
    2. Connect the USB adaptor end of the AC Adaptor cable into a USB port on computer, and the Multiport end of the cable into the tablet.
    3. On the computer, in the AutoPlay window, click to select the Open device to view files option. Image

      NOTES:

      • If the AutoPlay window does not appear, to manually access the device click the Start button, click Computer, and then double-click the SGPT12 icon. Image
      • If the the SGPT12 icon does not appear, the tablet is not being detected or recognized.
  2. If tablet is not detected on the computer, disconnect the usb cable from the tablet and perform reset procedure .
  3. Reconnect the tablet to the computer using the USB cable and, if tablet is still not being detected, perform the steps below:
    1. On the desktop, tap the Home icon. Image
    2. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Apps & Widgets icon. Image
    3. In the Apps & Widgets screen, tap the Developer options icon.
    4. In the Developer options screen, tap to enable USB debugging. Image
    5. At the USB debugging prompt, tap OK.
  4. If tablet is still not being detected, continue with these steps:
    1. On the desktop, tap the Home icon.
    2. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Apps & Widgets icon.
    3. In the Apps & Widgets screen, tap the Settings icon.
    4. In the Settings screen, tap to select Storage.
    5. In the Storage screen, in the upper-right corner, tap the Menu icon and then tap to select USB computer connection. Image
    6. In the USB computer connection screen, tap to place a check next to either Media device (MTP) or Camera (PTP), whichever is most appropriate. Image

    IMPORTANT: If you have completed all of the steps above and the tablet is still not being detected by the computer, there may be a problem with the USB cable. Attempt the connection with a new or different cable. If the tablet is still not being detected by the computer even with the new cable, then service may be required on either the tablet or the computer.

  5. Once the tablet is detected, in the SGPT12 window, double-click the Internal Storage icon. Image

    NOTES:

    • If after double-clicking the Internal Storage icon the folders do not appear, the tablet is locked. Unlock the tablet to view the folders. Folders will not appear if the tablet is locked.
    • You will now have access to the following folders on the tablet: Image
  6. You can now copy the desired contents from the computer to the appropriate location within the tablet folder structure using any of the following methods:
    • Drag and Drop
    • Copy and Paste
    • Cut and Paste
