How to change the Wi-Fi disconnect policy on the tablet.

The Wi-Fi disconnect policy sets when and if the Wi-Fi connection is stopped when the tablet screen turns off. Follow these steps to change the Wi-Fi disconnect policy.

  1. On the desktop, tap the Home icon. Image
  2. In the upper-right corner of the desktop home screen, tap the Apps & Widgets icon. Image
  3. In the Apps & Widgets screen, tap the Settings icon. Image
  4. In the Settings screen, tap to select Wi-Fi.
  5. In the Wi-Fi screen, tap the Menu icon, and then tap Advanced. Image
  6. In the Advanced Wi-Fi screen, tap Wi-Fi disconnect policy. Image
  7. At the Wi-Fi disconnect policy prompt, tap to select the desired option. Image
    • Disconnect Wi-Fi when the screen turns off: Choose this option if you want the Wi-Fi disconnected when the tablet screen turns off.
    • When Plugged in: Choose this option if you want the Wi-Fi to remain connected when the tablet screen turns off as long as the tablet is connected to AC power.
    • Always keep Wi-Fi connected: Choose this option if you want the Wi-Fi to remain connected whenever the tablet screen turns off.
