How to troubleshoot the touchpad.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the touchpad.

NOTE: If model-specific information is needed for any of these steps, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

  1. Shutdown the computer.
  2. Make sure there is no external serial, USB or IBM® PS/2® mouse connected to the system.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. If possible, connect a serial or PS/2 mouse to the notebook. If that mouse works, disconnect it and try the touchpad again.
  5. Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the Application Recovery CD.
  6. Reset the BIOS  defaults.

If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.
