Applicable Products and Categories of This Article

The DV standard for NTSC (National Television Standards Committee) is 720 x 480 video with 5:1 compression. The DV standard for PAL (Phase Alternating Line) is 720 x 576 video with 5:1 compression.

When transferring video to a computer digitally using an i.LINK® (aka FireWire® and IEEE1394) cable, the format does not matter. The computer can handle the digital information regardless of the format in which the video was recorded.
