IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

There are two types of external microphones that are recommended for use with this IC recorder:

  • Electret-condenser stereo microphone (such as ECM-CS10 or ECM-DS70P).
  • Electret-condenser monaural microphone (such as ECM-TL1 or ECM-DM5P).

NOTE: Depending on your model of IC recorder, if a monaural microphone is used and the recording mode is set to ST on the IC recorder, the sound will be recorded from the left channel of the stereo sound only. To verify whether the IC recorder has this recording mode, refer to the operating instructions that came supplied with your unit. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
