In order to achieve better focus in dark shooting environments, the AF Illuminator feature that is available on select Sony® cameras should be set to Auto.
IMPORTANT: For model-specific information and to check if your camera has an AF Illuminator feature, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- If the AF Illuminator light does not reach the subject sufficiently or the subject has no contrast, focus will not be achieved.
- Focus can be achieved as long as the AF Illuminator light reaches the subject, even if the light is slightly off-center of the subject.
- The AF Illuminator does not function on cameras with a Face Detection feature when Face Detection is set to On.
- Although there are no safety issues, directly looking into the AF Illuminator light at close range is not recommended.
