Vertical gray or black bars appear along the left and right side of the picture when viewing a standard definition (4:3) program on a widescreen (16:9) monitor.

When viewing standard definition (4:3) broadcasts on a widescreen monitor, black or gray bars will be present on the sides of the screen. This occurs because the aspect ratio of the monitor is 16:9 and the aspect ratio of the standard definition signal is 4:3. This is normal operation.

NOTE: Some monitor have a WIDE mode button on the remote control that can be pressed to view a 4:3 picture at full screen. Other monitor may have an option in the menu that can be changed for viewing at full screen. Please note that depending on the mode or function selected, it is possible that the picture may appear stretched or parts of the picture may be cut off.
