How to manually back-up the library on the computer.

Currently, the Reader™ (eBook) Library software does not include an integrated feature to automatically back up the library. However, the library can be manually backed up.

IMPORTANT: Books that are purchased from the Reader (eBook) Store are automatically stored in the Account section of the Reader Store Web site. These books are availble for re-download anytime.

Follow these steps to manually back up your library.

Windows® XP operating system:

  1. On the computer, click Start and then click My Computer.
  2. In the My Computer window, click Local Disc (C:).
  3. In the Local Disc (C:) window, click Documents and Settings.
  4. In the Documents and Settings window, click your user name folder.
  5. In the user name window, click My Documents.
  6. In the My Documents window, click My Books.
  7. In the My Books folder, select the Reader Library folder.
  8. On the menu bar, click Edit, then click Copy.
  9. Locate the folder where the back up is to be stored.
  10. In the back up location window, on the menu bar, click Edit, then click Paste.

Windows Vista® and Windows 7 operating system:

  1. On the computer, click Start and then click Computer.
  2. In the Computer window, click Local Disc (C:).
  3. In the Local Disc (C:) window, click Users.
  4. In the Users window, click your user name folder.
  5. In the user name window, click Documents.
  6. In the Documents window, click My Books.
  7. In the My Books folder, select the Reader Library folder.
  8. On the menu bar, click Edit, then click Copy.
  9. Locate the folder where the back up is to be stored.
  10. In the back up location window, on the menu bar, click Edit, then click Paste.

Apple® Mac OS® operating system:

  1. On the main menu, click Go and then click Computer.
  2. In the Search field, type My Books.
  3. Double-click the My Books folder.
  4. In the My Books folder, click to select the eBook Library folder.
  5. On the main menu, click Edit and then click Copy eBook Library.
  6. Click anywhere on your Desktop.
  7. On the main menu, click Edit and then click Paste item.

    NOTE: The Desktop is just an example. You can paste this folder to any location on your computer for backup purposes.

  8. You can restore this folder by copying it back to the original location in the My Books folder.
