Why should the SteadyShot function be turned off when attaching the camera to a tripod?

Applicable Products and Categories of This Article

The SteadyShot® function does not serve a purpose while the camera is mounted to a tripod. Since the tripod is stationary when taking a picture, there is no excessive movement to the camera. It is not necessary to use it in this situation.

NOTE: Some camera instruction manuals state there is a potential for malfunction when using SteadyShot while the camera is on a tripod. While it is not always the case, sometimes unintentional blur may occur with this shooting scenario.
