How the adjust visual effects in the operating system.

NOTE: Disabling some visual effect settings may improve performance.

  1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window, click System and Maintenance.
  3. In the System and Maintenance window, click Performance Information and Tools.
  4. In the Performance Information and Tools window, under Tasks, click Adjust visual effects.

    NOTE: If prompted for an administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password or click Continue.

  5. In the Performance Options window, on the Visual Effects tab, click to select Adjust for best performance or under Custom, uncheck items to disable individual visual effect settings.
