The Auto Exposure (AE) function works on both lenses. However, the A-mount lens is not equipped with a SteadyShot® function, be careful of camera shake.
The Photo Creativity and Background Defocus Control functions on NEX cameras do not work with A-Mount lenses when Intelligent Auto is selected.

For NEX-3, NEX-5 and NEX-VG10: Auto focus (AF) function does not work when using an A-mount lens. It is recommended to use Manual focus (MF). When using a Smooth Auto focus Motor (SAM) lens, switch the focus mode lever to MF for manual focusing. To use the AF function with A-mount lenses, upgrade both the firmware of the camera and the LA-EA1 mount adapter to the current available versions.
For NEX-VG20, NEX-VG30, and NEX-VG900: Auto focus (AF) function does not work while movie recording when using an A-mount lens. It is recommended to use MF. When using a SAM lens, switch the focus mode lever to the MF setting for manual focusing.
