  • An Android mobile device that supports high-resolution output through USB

What are needed to play back high-resolution audio from an Apple® iPhone® mobile digital device using a USB DAC amplifier? To play back high-resolution audio from an Apple iPhone mobile digital device using a USB DAC amplifier, the following are needed:
  • An adapter (sold separately) and a USB cable (USB-A plug to USB micro B plug)
  • An app that allows high-resolution data to be output through USB
Playback specifications Is native DSD playback possible by USB DAC?

Yes, native DSD playback is possible by USB DAC. For native DSD playback, a playback device and an app that support native DSD playback are needed.

NOTES:

  • DSD 2.8 MHz/1 bit and 5.6 MHz/1 bit are supported.
  • To perform native DSD playback, check the settings and specifications of your playback device and app.
The listed bit depth is 32bit, but can 32bit files be played back? The sampling frequency and bit depth that are listed for this product indicate the types of files that can be input. Files in 32bit are played back in 24bit.
Is gapless playback supported? Yes, gapless playback is supported. If the file format, sampling frequency and bit depth of the songs before and after the song being played all match, then there will be no gap in playback.
Can the time alignment be adjusted during DSD playback by USB DAC? Yes, the time alignment can be adjusted during DSD playback by USB DAC. However, the sub output cannot be adjusted.

NOTE: The time alignment can be adjusted for Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left and Rear Right channels during DSD playback.

Troubleshooting The Android mobile device is not being recognized by the USB DAC amplifier.

If the Android mobile device is not being recognized by the USB DAC amplifier, check whether the audio output setting on your connected device is set to USB. Below is a sample

NOTE: The steps to check whether the audio output setting on your connected device is set to USB may vary depending on the mobile device. Refer to the instruction manual of the mobile device. Below is an example on how to check whether the audio output setting on your connected device is set to USB of an Xperia™ mobile device.

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Select Xperia Connectivity.
  3. Select USB Connectivity.
  4. Confirm with Detect USB device.
The device connected to the USB micro-B port is not being charged. A device cannot be charged using the USB micro B port. Devices can only be charged using the USB1 or USB2 port.
Songs cannot be operated from the unit. During playback using a USB DAC connection, songs cannot be operated from the unit. Operate songs from the connected device.
No sound is output by USB DAC.

If sound is not output by USB DAC amplifier, check any of the following:

  • If performing Bluetooth® pairing during USB DAC playback, the audio output of the connected device may have switched from USB DAC to Bluetooth audio. If sound is not output from USB DAC, check whether the audio output of the connected device is USB.
  • If connected via the Bluetooth technology, check whether the audio output of the connected device is USB.
  • If using an Android mobile device, re-confirm the orientation of the USB OTG cable and the USB cable.
  • Stop the connection if connected to a Walkman player or an Xperia mobile device via the Bluetooth technology.
  • If connected to a computer, do any of the following:
    • Restart the computer.
    • For Microsoft® Windows® computer, if not yet installed, install the Sony USB Device Driver. Downloads are posted on your model support page.
    • Power off and on the unit by pressing the SRC button on the unit.
    • Verify that the computer is connected correctly.
    • Connect to a different USB port on the computer and see whether it is recognized. If it is recognized, there may be a problem with the previous USB port.
  • If using the Media Go™ software for playback, follow the steps below:
    1. In the Media Go software, go to Tools
    2. Select Preferences.
    3. Select Audio Output.
    4. Select ASIO Device.
    5. Select Sony ASIO device.
    6. Press the OK button.
There is no sound from the optical output when playing back DSD by USB DAC. Audio optical output is not possible during DSD playback by USB DAC.
There is noise between songs. Check the settings on the playback app.
Error displays or messages No device is displayed even if there is a device connected. If the screen of the connected device powers off or enters the sleep mode, the signal from the connected device may be cut and the message No device will be displayed. Make sure that the connected device is powered on and operational.
