Shooting the Eclipse with a Mirrorless Camera

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

Shooting a solar eclipse with a Mirrorless camera is different than with shooting with a conventional DSLR. This is because the mirrorless cameras receive light directly on the sensor.

The damage of shooting directly into the sun can be as severe as follows:

  • Sensor will no longer be able to record images totally
  • Getting big black spots on images (Should not confuse this as dirt on the sensor).
  • Having a large black spot in the middle of the image/sensor.
