Special Instructions for a USB Storage Device Update After Network Update Failure

Please download and transfer the update files to your USB storage device and using the following procedure.

  • Important Notes
    • If you have not done so already, please check the current firmware version to determine if this software update is needed for your system.
    • If the version number is 4.01 or later, the update has already been installed and this procedure is not necessary.
    • It is not possible to return to the previous software version after performing this update.
    • Recommended operating system for the computer that will download the firmware update:
      Note: Operation is not guaranteed for all computers with a compatible OS installed.
      • Microsoft® Windows® 10
      • Microsoft® Windows® 8/8.1
        Note: For Windows 8/8.1, it is recommended to use desktop mode.
      • Microsoft® Windows® 7 with Service Pack 1 (SP1)
      • Microsoft® Windows Vista® with Service Pack 2 (SP2)
      • Apple® Mac OS X® 10.6 (or later)
    • This update requires a USB storage device with the capacity more than 256MB.
      Note: Operation is not guaranteed for all USB storage devices.
    • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
  • Update via USB Memory Instructions
    1. Download the SRS1600x.UPG file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
    2. Connect a compatible USB storage device to your computer.
    3. Copy the SRS1600x.UPG file to the root directory of the USB flash drive.
      Note: The update will not be performed if the file is not copied to the root directory of the USB device or if the name of the file is modified.
      • For Microsoft Windows operating systems: Right-click the SRS1600x.UPG file, from the menu click Send To..., and then click the drive (for example: Removable Disk E:) that represents your USB storage device. The folder will be copied onto the root of your USB storage device.
      • For Mac OS X operating systems: Drag and drop the SRS1600x.UPG file to the root directory of the USB device.
    4. After copying the SRS16003.UPG file, remove the USB device from your computer and continue to the next section.

Update via USB Storage Device Instructions

WARNING: This steps below should only be used if an attempted Network Update has failed and as a result the Power/-PAIRING button flashes red, the UPDATE/WPS button flashes orange, and the speaker does NOT operate normally.

WARNING: Do not power off the speaker or disconnect it from the AC power outlet during the update process.

WARNING: Do not remove the USB storage device until the update process is complete.

The update process usually takes about 10 minutes to complete.

  1. Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to the AC IN jack of the speaker, and plugged securely into a wall outlet.
  2. Press the Power/-PAIRING button to power off the speaker.
    Note: Once the speaker is off, please complete next two steps within three minutes.
  3. Once the speaker is off, insert the USB storage device into the USB slot on the rear of the speaker.
  4. Press the Power/-PAIRING button to power off the speaker.
    1. The UPDATE/WPS button will flash and the update will start automatically.
    2. The speaker is not operational while the system is updating.
  5. The blinking interval and status of the UPDATE/WPS button changes according to the update progress.
    Note: The UPDATE/WPS button will flash four times at first, will decrease by one flash at a time as the update progresses, and will turn off completely once the update is complete.
  6. The UPDATE/WPS button automatically turns off and the speaker switches to standby or BLUETOOTH/Network standby mode after the update is complete.
    Note: The UPDATE/WPS indicator will flash three times the first time you turn on the speaker after the update.
  7. Check the current software version to confirm that the update has successfully installed.
    Note: If the version number is 4.01, the software update was successful.
