Before You Start


Determine if you need this update

  1. Turn on the 4K Home Theater Projector.
  2. Use the arrow buttons Arrows on the remote control to select MENU.
  3. At the MENU screen, use the arrow buttons Arrows to select the Information Information icon icon.
  4. The firmware version currently installed will be listed on the screen.
    Firmware Version
    • If the version number is 2.302 or higher, you do not need this update.
    • If the version number is lower than 2.302, you should install this update.

Before You Start

  • Follow the update instructions carefully.
  • WARNING!
    • Do not operate, turn off, or disconnect the 4K Home Theater Projector from the AC power outlet until after the update is complete.
    • Failure to follow the instructions, or an interruption in the update process, may cause the player to become unresponsive or to require repair.
  • Contact our Support team if you need assistance with the update.

Download & Install


Download and Transfer the Update File to Your USB Storage Device

  1. Download the sony_pjupdate_2015_2302_pje_auth.zip file to a temporary or download directory (note this directory for reference).
  2. Extract the update folder from the sony_pjupdate_2015_2302_pje_auth.zip file.
  3. Connect a USB storage device to your computer.
    • Requirements for the USB storage device used for the update:
  4. Copy the sony_dtv0FA30A07A0A7_00002900 extracted folder to the root directory of your USB storage device.
    Note: The root directory is the top directory in a file system.

    IMPORTANT: Do not change the name of the folder or copy to any other folder on the USB device. This update will not install successfully if the name of the folder is modified or if the folder is not copied to the root directory of the USB device.

    • For Windows operating systems: Right-click the sony_dtv0FA30A07A0A7_00002900 folder and, from the menu, click Send To..., and then click the drive (EX: Removable Disk E:) that represents your USB device. The update folder will be copied onto your USB storage device.
    • For Mac OS X operating systems: Drag and drop the sony_dtv0FA30A07A0A7_00002900 folder to the root folder of the USB storage device.
  5. After copying of the sony_dtv0FA30A07A0A7_00002900 folder is complete, remove the USB device from your computer and continue to the next section.

Installation Instructions

IMPORTANT: Do not remove the USB storage device until instructed to do so.

  1. Turn off the projector.
  2. Make sure no other USB device is connected to the projector before starting the update.
  3. Insert the USB storage device containing the update folder into USB port of the projector.
  4. Turn on the projector. The update process starts automatically.
    Note: The following process varies depending on the version of system software installed prior to this update.
    • Updating from version v2.003 or earlier:
      1. During the update process, the ON/STANDBY indicator blinks green, then amber. It takes about 5 minutes to update.
      2. Turn on the projector.
        Note: After the update, the initial power on takes about 15 minutes to light a lamp. During this period, the ON/STANDBY indicator blinks green. Do NOT unplug or turn off the projector until the update process is finished.
      3. When the update process is finished, you will get an image from the projector.
    • Updating from version v2.202 or later:
      1. When the update is finished, the projector will turn off.
      2. Turn on the projector to complete the update process.
  5. Check the current firmware version to confirm that the update has successfully installed.
    • If the version number is 2.302, the firmware update was successful.
    • If the version number isn't 2.302, download and install the update again.
