Check if your camera will turn on after completing each step.
- Make sure that the battery is charged.
- Batteries discharge more quickly when used in cold weather conditions.
- If necessary, recharge the battery. If it doesn't charge:
Check the battery.
- Make sure that the battery is properly inserted in the camera.
- Make sure to use a genuine battery. Third-party battery isn't supported.
- Make sure that the battery terminals are clean. Use a clean dry cloth to wipe out any foreign materials.
Check the connections.
- If charging through the camera
- Unplug the camera from the power supply and then reconnect it.
- If the power supply is coming from a computer, make sure that it's turned on and not in Sleep, Standby, or Hibernate mode.
- If the power supply is a USB charger, ensure that it's the correct model for the product.
- Remove the battery from the camera and then reinsert it.
- Make sure that the camera is turned off.
- If charging through an external dedicated charger
- Make sure that the charger is plugged directly into a working wall outlet and not through an extension cord.
- Unplug the charger from the outlet and then reconnect it.
- Remove the battery from the charger and then reinsert it.
Check the charge lamp.
- If charging through the camera, check the status of the charge lamp.
- If it's lit, it means the battery is charging. Allow the battery to charge for ten minutes.
- If the camera still doesn't turn on, try a different battery.
- If it's blinking or isn't lit, check the following:
- Use a different cable for charging. If the charge lamp lights up, allow the battery to charge for ten minutes.
- If the camera still doesn't turn on, try a different battery.
- Perform a power cycle
For cameras with a POWER button
- Turn off the camera.
- Remove the batteries and let it sit for a full minute.
- Press and hold the POWER button for 30 seconds.
- Release the POWER.
- Reinsert the batteries.
- Try charging again.
- If the Charge lamp lights up, allow the battery to charge for ten minutes.
For cameras with a POWER switch
- Turn the POWER switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the batteries and let it sit for a full minute.
- Turn the POWER switch to the ON position.
- Press and hold the shutter button for 30 seconds.
- Release the shutter button.
- Turn the POWER switch to the OFF position.
- Reinsert the batteries.
- Try charging again.
- If the Charge lamp lights up, allow the battery to charge for ten minutes.
- If charging through an external dedicated charger, check the status of the charge lamp.
- If it's lit, it means the battery is charging. Allow the battery to charge for ten minutes.
- If the camera still doesn't turn on, try a different battery.
- If it's blinking or isn't lit, check the following:
- Remove the battery from the charger.
- Unplug the charger from the wall outlet and carefully wipe the charger metal contacts with a clean dry cloth.
- Let the battery rest for three minutes then try charging it again.
- If the Charge lamp lights up, allow the battery to charge for ten minutes. If the camera still doesn't turn on, try a different battery.
- Make sure the battery is properly inserted in the camera.
- Plug in your camera to a working outlet using the supplied AC adaptor.
- If the supplied AC adaptor doesn't work, use a different AC adaptor.
- Make sure that the battery terminals are clean. Use a clean dry cloth to wipe out any foreign materials.
