Noise canceling doesn't work on my earbud headphones (WF-1000XM3)
Make sure that the Noise Canceling function is turned on
There are a few ways to check if Noise Canceling is On:
- Place both earbuds in the charging case, leave them for a few seconds, and then remove them from the charging case.
- After they are removed from the charging case, the Noise canceling function will be on.
- While wearing the headphones, tap the
touch sensor until you hear Noise canceling.
- In the default setting, tap the
touch sensor to change the Ambient Sound Control function.
- If your headphones don't switch to the Noise canceling function, try tapping one time quickly (about 0.3 seconds). If the contact time between the touch sensor and finger is too long, the mode switches to Quick Attention mode instead of the Noise canceling function.
- If you assign the Google Assistant feature to your headphones and you want to use only one unit, use the one with the Google Assistant feature assigned.
- In the default setting, tap the
- Change the Noise canceling settings on the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
Replace the earbud tips
Noise-canceling is ineffecive if your earbud headphones don't fit your ears properly. Select the appropriate size earbud tip that minimizes the ambient noise.
- Be careful that you don't pinch the end of the earbud tip when you remove it.
- Attach the appropriate size.
Make sure it is attached all the way and isn't loose.
Adjust the position to fit your ears
- Slightly twist the headphones to slide the earbud deep into your ear.
- Rotating it while lighly pulling up the upper part of your ear makes it easier to insert.
Make sure that Adaptive Sound Control is turned off
Check the Adaptive Sound Control settings on the Sony | Headphones Connect app. If Adaptive Sound Control is on, the effects of noise canceling may become weak. If it's on, we recommend turning it off.
