Before You Start
Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new Blu-ray player model. If the version number is M24.R.0357 or higher, you do not need to update.
If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:
- Turn on your TV and check that it's tuned to the input where your Blu-ray player is connected (so if the player is connected to the HDMI 2 port, choose HDMI 2 as the input).
- Turn on the Blu-ray player. NOTE: If it starts to play a disc, press [STOP] and wait until you see the [Home Screen] menu.
- At the [Home Screen], select [Setup] > [System Settings] then select [ENTER] using the arrow keys on the remote control.
- Select [System Information] and select [ENTER].
- On the TV screen, the "Software Version" is displayed, if the version number is M24.R.0357 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.

Updating your Blu-ray player over the Internet
We recommend this method as it's the simplest way to update. It usually takes about 15-30 minutes. First set up the equipment, then download the update over the internet to your Blu-ray player.
What you need:
- An active internet connection (using Ethernet cable or wireless router)
- A compatible TV
How to make sure the update goes smoothly
Updating is usually very simple. Here's how you can make sure it goes right the first time:
- Read the instructions carefully or you could end up damaging your Blu-ray player.
- Don't turn off the Blu-ray player or disconnect it from power while it's updating.
- Don't press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions.
Set up the equipment:
- Turn on your TV and check that it's tuned to the input where your Blu-ray player is connected (so if the player is connected to the HDMI 2 port, choose HDMI 2 as the input).
- Connect the Blu-ray player to your internet source using an Ethernet cable or wireless connection via router.
- Turn on the Blu-ray player (if there is a disc in the player, take it out).
Get the update:
- At the [Home Screen], select [Setup] ---> [Software Update] using the arrow keys on the remote control and then select [Update via Internet].
- The Software Update confirmation will be displayed on the TV. Select [OK] using the remote control, and then press [ENTER].
- The message [Update to a new software version], and the latest software version is displayed on the TV.
- Select [Start], and then press [ENTER].
- The update process starts and you'll see the update screen on the TV.
- During the update, you'll see the progress bar "x %" and the download capacity on the TV. The x changes to 0 and goes up to 100 during the update process.
- The player will reboot itself and the update will continue. NOTE: Don't use or turn on the player during this step.
- The progress bar "x %" and the download capacity will appear on the TV again.
- To complete the update, the player will automatically turn off and restart. NOTE: Don't use or turn off the player until the update is complete.
- Check the firmware version. If the version number is M24.R.0357, the firmware update was successful.
Troubleshooting
What to do if you have problems updating your Blu-ray player firmware using the internet.
- The message "Connection status cannot be confirmed" or "This device is not connected to network" shows on the TV. The problem might be with the network connection.
- For wired connection: check that the LAN cable is connected between the player and the internet source.
- For wireless connection: check that the wireless router is turned on and connected to an internet source.
- In the network settings, confirmed whether or not your Blu-ray player has its own IP address. (if you use a proxy server, type the IP address of the proxy you use instead of the proxy host name, into the Proxy Server field).
- Confirm both [Physical Connection] and [Internet Access] are showing [OK] in [Network Settings] ---> [Network Connection Status].
- Try the update again.
- The power went off while the update was in progress
Turn the player on and try the update again. - The update has been going for over 30 minutes and hasn't finished
- Disconnect the AC power cord from the outlet, then reconnect it after several minutes.
- Turn on the Blu-ray Disc player.
- Try the update procedure again.
- You can also cancel the network procedure and proceed directly to perform the update via USB memory.
- While updating the message "Update failed" appears
- Ensure there is no problem with your network connection to the internet.
- At the "Update failed" screen, select [OK] to try the update procedure again, or select [Cancel] to stop the process.
- If the symptom persists, download the firmware file and perform the update via USB memory.
- You can also cancel the network procedure and proceed directly to perform the update via USB memory.
- After several attempts, the firmware update still does not work
- Download the firmware file and perform the update via USB memory.
Update via USB Memory Device and your PC
We recommend you use the internet to update if you can. If not, you can use this method instead. You'll download the update to your computer, transfer it to a USB memory device, then transfer it to your Blu-ray player.
We recommend the following operating systems:
- Windows 10 / 8.1 / 7
- Macintosh OS X version 10.5 or later version
How to make sure the update goes smoothly

Download the update to your computer:
- Read and agree to the terms and conditions.
- Download the file UPDATE_M24R0357.ZIP to your computer (please note the download location for your reference).
- Find the file on your computer, right-click on it and then click [Properties]. Check that the size is 123 MB (129,461,603 byte).
Transfer the update files to the USB storage device:
- Extract the file to your computer. The extracted folder is called "UPDATE".
- Make sure that these four files are included inside the "UPDATE" folder: MSB24-FW.BIN, MSB24-FW.ID, MSB24-FW_MB.BIN, and MSB24-FW_MB.ID.
- Connect a compatible USB storage device to your computer.NOTE: FAT32 and NTFS are supported.
For Windows; operating system:
- Go to the directory where the folder was created, and right-click the [UPDATE] folder.
- From the appearing menu, click [Send To...].
- Click the drive that represents your USB device (e.g. Removable Disk E:).
- The update folder will be copied onto your USB device.
For Mac OS; X operating system:
- Drag and drop the [UPDATE] folder to the root folder of the USB device.
Note: The update will not be performed if the file is not copied to the root directory of the USB device or if the name of the file is modified.
Transfer the update to your player
First get the equipment ready, then transfer the update to your player.
Get the equipment ready:
- Turn on your TV and check that it's tuned to the input where your Blu-ray player is connected (so if the player is connected to the HDMI 2 port, choose HDMI 2 as the input).
- Turn on the Blu-ray player.
- Make sure no other USB device is connected to the Blu-ray Disc player, if there is, please remove it.
Transfer the update:
- Insert the USB storage device containing the update file into USB port located on the front panel of the player.
- At the [Home Screen] menu, use the arrow keys on the remote control to select [Setup] - [Software Update], and then press [Enter].
- A Software Update confirmation will be displayed. Select [Update via USB Memory], select [OK] using the remote control, and then press [ENTER].
- The update starts.
- During the update, you'll see the progress bar "x %" on the TV. The "x" changes to 0 and goes up to 100 during the update process.
- The player will reboot itself and the update will continue. Don't use or turn on the player during this step.
- The progress bar "x %" and the download capacity will appear on the TV again.
- The player will turn off and restart automatically after the update is complete. NOTE: Don't use or turn off the player until the update is complete.
- Remove the USB device from the Blue-ray player.
- Check the firmware version. If the version number is M24.R.0357, the firmware update was successful.
Troubleshooting
What to do if you have problems updating your Blu-ray player firmware using your PC and USB memory.
- I'm unable to select the option "Update via USB Memory." Please check the following:
- Ensure the USB device is properly connected to the Blu-ray Disc player.
- Ensure the USB device is formatted to a supported file system (FAT32 or NTFS).
- Ensure the USB devices is compatible with the Blu-ray Disc player, or try a different USB device.
- The update file I downloaded from the website cannot be extracted.
Try deleting the file and downloading it again. - The message "There is no update file" appears.
Make sure the extracted folder name is correctly named "UPDATE" (in capital letters), and all four of the following files are included inside:- MSB24-FW.BIN
- MSB24-FW.ID
- MSB24-FW_MB.BIN
- MSB24-FW_MB.ID.
- The message "The file is corrupted" appears.
Download the update file again and repeat the entire procedure. - The update has been going for over 30 minutes and hasn't finished
- Disconnect the AC power cord from the outlet, then reconnect it after several minutes.
- Turn on the Blu-ray Disc player.
- Try the update procedure again.
- The power went off while the update was in progress.
Turn on the Blu-ray Disc player and try the update procedure again.
