The error This update can only run on Microsoft Windows Vista may occur when installing a driver or application if the downloaded driver or application file is set to run in compatibility mode.
Follow this procedure to configure the file to not run in compatibility mode.
- Browse to the location of the downloaded driver or application.
- Right click the [driver or application file name] icon, and then click Properties.
- In the [file name] Properties window, click the Compatibility tab.
- On the Compatibility tab, click to remove the check from the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for, and then click the OK button.
NOTE: If the Run this program in compatibility mode for option is grayed out or the check cannot be cleared from the box, click the Change settings for all users button and in the Compatibility for all users window, click to remove the check from the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for, and then click the OK button.
