How to use the Wireless Network Setup Wizard and a USB flash drive to transfer wireless settings on your network.
- Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, double-click the Network and Internet Connections icon.
- In the Network and Internet Connections window, under or pick a Control Panel icon, double-click the Wireless Network Setup Wizard icon.
- In the Wireless Network Setup Wizard window, under Welcome to the Wireless Network Setup Wizard, click the Next button.
- Under Select a task:, click to select Set up a new wireless network.
- Click the Next button.
- Under Create a name for your wireless network., next to Network name (SSID):, type the (SSID) of the access point.
- Click to select Manually assign a network key.
- Ensure the Use WPA encryption instead of WEP... box is not selected.
- Click the Next button.
- Under Enter a WEP key for your wireless network. click to clear the Hide characters as I type box.
- In the Network key box, type the appropriate WEP key for your access point.
- In the Confirm network key box, re-type the same WEP key for your access point.
- Click the Next button.
- Under How do you want to set up your network? click to select Use a USB flash drive (recommended).
- Click the Next button.
- Connect the USB flash drive to the computer using an available USB port.
- Under Save settings to your flash drive., next to Flash drive:, click the down arrow, then click to select the USB flash drive letter.
- Click the Next button.
- Insert the USB flash drive into the next computer that will connect to this wireless LAN.
- In the USB flash drive window, under This disk or device contains more than one type of content., click to select Open folder to view files.
- Click the OK button.
- In the USB flash drive window, double-click the setupSNK icon.
- In the Wireless Network Setup Wizard window, click the OK button.
- Under You have successfully added this computer to the wireless network..., click the OK button.
- Remove the USB flash drive from the computer and repeat the last 6 steps for each additional computer to connect to this wireless LAN.
- Insert the USB flash drive into the first computer.
- On the first computer, in the Wireless Network Setup Wizard window, under Transfer your network settings to your other computers or devices., click the Next button.
IMPORTANT: If the error: Windows cannot always detect when you remove the flash drive or media. If you already removed and reinserted the drive or media, click Cancel is displayed, click the Cancel button.
- Under The wizard completed successfully, ensure the For security reasons, remove network settings from my flash drive box is selected.
- Click the Finish button.
