The desktop computer will not turn on or has no power.
Follow these steps to troubleshoot why the desktop computer will not turn on or has no power.
IMPORTANT: While following this procedure, note the status of the Power and Hard Drive LED indicators at each step. This will provide additional information for the technician if repair becomes necessary.
- Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the computer status after completing each step.
- Follow this procedure if you receive a Bootmgr is missing error when attempting to start the computer.
- Make sure the power cord is plugged into a known working AC outlet and is not crimped, cut or in any other way damaged.
NOTE: If the power cord is damaged, it will need to be replaced.  Go to Parts and Accessories.
- With the computer off, remove all optical drive media from the computer.
- Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
NOTE: These devices can include but are not limited to modems, network connections, USB and flash media devices, printers, a keyboard or mouse.
- Press and hold the Power Switch for 5 seconds to turn on the computer normally.
NOTE: If the computer turns on normally, the issue was likely caused by one of the connected external devices.
- With the computer off and power cord unplugged, remove any additional Random Access Memory (RAM) that may have been added to the computer and, once removed, again attempt to turn the computer on normally.
- If removing the added RAM resolves the issue, check the computer specifications to ensure the memory modules meet the minimum requirements. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- If requirement is met, the modules themselves may be defective.  Go to Parts and Accessories.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service will be required.  Go to Product Repair.
