Accessibility for Xperia Smartphone - For Android 16

    Xperia® smartphones support the following accessibility features.

    You can access them from SettingsAccessibility (exclude some features)

    • These features are available on Xperia smartphones with Android™ 16 or later installed.
      • To learn which Android version your device has, find and tap SettingsAbout phoneAndroid version.
    • Some features might require app installation from Google Play™ depending on the product and/or Android OS version.

     


    What accessibility features help with vision and visibility?

    TalkBack

    You can use your device without looking at the screen by spoken feedback.

    Select to Speak

    You can tap specific items on your screen to hear them read aloud.

    Text-to-speech output

    You can set up speech rate, pitch and language for text-to-speech output.

    Font size

    You can make the text on the screen smaller or larger.

    Display size

    You can make the items on your screen smaller or larger.

    Bold text

    You can use bold font to improve visibility.

    Color correction

    You can adjust how colors are displayed on your device.

    Color inversion

    You can change your display to a dark background.

    Remove animations

    You can remove animation partly during operating your device.

    Cursor & touchpad accessibility

    You can set the cursor size and click behavior when using an external mouse or touchpad.

    Note: This menu only appears if a mouse or touchpad is connected.

    Outline text

    You can make the text easier to read on your device.

    Extra dim

    You can dim your screen beyond your phone's minimum brightness so it's more comfortable to read.

    Dark theme

    You can change your display to a dark background.

    Magnification

    You can zoom or magnify to see your device's screen better.

    Audio Description

    Hear a description of what's happening on screen in supported movies and shows.

    Voice Access

    Speak to Voice Access and control your device hands-free.

    Notes: Support varies depending on the product.
    As of April 2025, only English, French, Italian, German and Spanish are available.

     

    What accessibility features help with hearing?

    Live Transcribe

    You can participate in conversations around you by showing speech as text on your screen.

    Sound Notifications

    Your phone will always be checking for sounds you want to be notified about.

    Mono audio

    You can integrate audio channel during playback.

    Audio balance

    You can adjust the left and right audio balance.

    Caption preferences

    You can set the caption size, style and language.

    Live Caption

    Live Caption detects speech on your device and automatically generate captions.

    Note: Support varies depending on the product.

    Flash notifications

    Flash the camera light or the screen when you receive notifications or when alarm sounds.

    Hearing devices

    Set up and manage ASHA and LE Audio HAP hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other amplification devices.

    Hearing aid compatibility (HAC)

    The device supports magnetic coupling for hearing aid device. In case you use your hearing aid device with T-coil, turn on "Hearing aid compatibility" in Hearing devices or you can also find it in the Phone app under SettingsAccessibility.

    Teletypewriter (TTY)

    You can use this Text Telephone (TTY) mode in case you connect a teletypewriter with 3.5mm audio connectivity.

    Real-time text (RTT)

    You can use Real-time text (RTT) to send text messages or generate captions over the phone.

    You can rotate the screen automatically when you move your device between portrait and landscape.

    You can turn on vibration for ringing, notifications, and touch.

    Smart call handling

    You can handle incoming calls without having to touch the screen.

    Circle to Search

    Circle, highlight, scribble, or tap text or images anywhere on your screen to select and search for them on Google.

    Swipe to invoke the assistant

    Swipe up from a bottom corner to invoke digital assistant app.
