Set Up a Wireless Network Connection on a Computer with Windows 8 or 8.1
Before You Start
You will need to have the following network information before following the steps in this solution:
- SSID or Network Name
- Security type
- Encryption type
- Security Key or Password
Connect Your Computer to a Wireless Network
Follow these steps to set up a wireless (Wi-Fi® network) connection on a computer with Microsoft® Windows® 8 or 8.1:
- Press the Windows Logo + X key combination on the keyboard and, from the list, click Control Panel.
Note: Because the Control Panel is a traditional Windows Desktop application, if you were not already there, the interface will change to the Desktop and the Control Panel window will open.
- In the Control Panel window, click Network and Internet.
- In the Network and Internet screen, click Network and Sharing Center.
- In the Network and Sharing Center screen, click Set up a new connection or network.
- Select Manually connect to a wireless network.

- Select Next.
- Enter the information for the wireless network.

Note: The SSID and Security Key settings are case sensitive, so it is important to make sure that they are entered exactly as found on your router or access point. - Select Next.
- If the information is entered correctly, the Successfully added Another Network window will appear. If this window doesn't appear, verify the information and repeat the steps above.
