Dolby Digital Plus sound doesn't ouput from the device connected with the optical digital cable

    Due to product specifications, your TV will automatically mute the Digital Audio (Optical) Out jack when receiving Dolby Digital Plus audio. If you want to listen to Dolby Digital Plus audio, connect the HDMI ARC or HDMI eARC jacks on the TV to the output device using an HDMI cable.

    Note: Your Audio System (output device) must support Dolby Digital Plus playback.

    How to listen to audio from devices connected to your TV with an optical digital cable

    When connecting devices with an optical digital cable, you can listen to audio in Dolby Digital by following these steps:

    Note: The display screen may slightly differ depending on the model or OS version.

    1. Connect the Optical Digital Cable:
      • Connect the optical digital cable from the TV's Optical Out to the audio system's Optical In.
      • Disconnect the HDMI cable from the HDMI ARC (or eARC) terminal on both the TV and the audio system.
    2. Set the TV's speaker output setting to Audio system.

      1. Open the Settings screen.
        • If the remote control has a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the Quick Settings button and select Settings.
        • If the remote control doesn't have a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the HOME button and select Settings.
      2. The following steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Display & SoundAudio outputSpeakersAudio system.
        • Select BRAVIA SettingsSpeakersAudio system.
        • Select SoundSpeakersAudio system.
    3. For models that have Dolby Digital Plus output settings, set to Dolby Digital.
      (If your model doesn't have Dolby Digital Plus output settings, skip this step.)
      1. Open the Settings screen.
        • If the remote control has a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the Quick Settings button and select Settings.
        • If the remote control doesn't have a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the HOME button and select Settings.
      2. The following steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select SoundSound Adjustments or SoundAdvanced settingsInput related or CommonDolby Digital Plus outputDolby Digital.
        • Select Display & SoundAudio outputDolby Digital Plus output or Digital Audio OutDolby Digital.
    4. For models with Optical digital audio output settings, turn on the Optical digital audio output.
      (If your model doesn't have Optical digital audio output settings, skip this step.)
      1. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings button and select Settings.
      2. Select Display & SoundAudio outputOptical digital audio output settings → turn on the Optical digital audio output.
    5. If necessary, change the Audio System Input selector on your audio device from TV(ARC or eARC) to TV(Opt).
