Security Notice for the WG-C10 Portable Wireless Server
Dear Customers,
The WG-C10 Wireless Portable Server, released in June 2013, connects by WiFi with smartphones and tablets. Based on recent industry reports, we strongly recommend that you configure proper security settings on your WG-C10, so you can continue to enjoy this feature in a secure way.
To ensure security and protect your devices against malicious attackers accessing your WG-C10, please follow these security guidelines. Otherwise, you could unintentionally allow unauthorized Wi-Fi devices to access your WG-C10 server by connecting to the same WiFi network you are using.
WiFi Security Guidelines
Set Up WiFi Security
Use PWS Manager to set your WiFi password. Detailed instructions are available in the WG-C10 Help Guide. You can install PWS Manager from the Android Play Store, or the iOS App Store.
- Setting the Wi-Fi security using "PWS Manager" (Android device)
- Setting the Wi-Fi security using "PWS Manager" (iOS device)
IMPORTANT: If you give your WiFi password to others for the purpose of sharing files, we highly recommend that you change your password immediately afterwards.
Avoid Using Public WiFi Connections
The WG-C10 lets you connect to the internet through a WiFi router. However, some public WiFi connections are not sufficiently secure and allow an unspecified number of users to connect. For the sake of security, we highly recommend you avoid using your WG-C10 with public WiFi connections.
