How do I set a PIN code for my TV or cancel a PIN code that I forgot?

You can use these instructions to set a PIN code for the first time to use for parental lock settings or a restricted profile for broadcast (Cable / Antenna) signals and streaming channels. The instructions to cancel or reset a PIN code is different with each feature and depending on the model you have. If you need model-specific instructions, check your manual.

    Before you start

    • Make sure your TV has the latest software installed.
    • If you forgot your Parental lock PIN code, enter the master PIN code for your TV.
      • If you do not know the master PIN code, Contact Product Support team to confirm the information.
      • The master PIN is only for Parental lock controls.
    • You can only change your PIN code from your profile if you're not in the Restricted profile mode.

Steps to set a Parental lock PIN code

You can configure the parental lock settings for broadcasts and streaming channels on Android TV™ models released in 2017 or after in the United States or Canada. If you aren't sure when your model was released, you can check the manufacture year on serial number label on the back of the TV or the specifications link on the model support page.

    1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. This step may vary depending on your TV menu options:
      • Under TV category, select Watching TVParental lock.
      • Under the Personal category, select Parental lockPIN Code.
    4. At the Enter new PIN screen, select your desired 4-digit PIN code.
    5. At the Re-enter your PIN to confirm screen, re-enter the 4-digit PIN code.

Note: If you forgot your PIN code, enter the master PIN code for your TV. If you do not know the master PIN code, Contact Product Support team to confirm the information

Steps to set a Restricted Profile PIN code

A restricted profile restricts access to specified apps or content. For example, you can setup a restricted profile that only allows the Netflix® app to appear. However, you would not be able to use or install any other apps while the restricted profile is enabled.

This function only restricts access to the app or content specified, it doesn't limit content based on the rating. This would need to be controlled through the Parental lock function in the TV menu and app settings.

    • Set a PIN code for the first time:
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Under the Personal category, select Security & restrictions.
      4. Select Restricted profile or Create restricted profile.
      5. Set a new PIN.
      6. Re-enter new PIN.
      7. If there is an app that you want to set as exempt, select the app and set it to Allowed.
      8. Press the BACK button to return
      9. Select Enter restricted profile.
    • PIN code is already set:
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Under the Personal category, select Security & restrictions.
      4. Select Restricted profile.
      5. Select Enter restricted profile.

    Note:

    • A PIN code is required to exit the Restricted profile mode or delete information from your profile while not in the Restricted profile mode.
    • If you forget your Restricted Profile PIN code you will need to perform a factory data reset to reset the PIN. In this case, Contact Product Support team for information on how to proceed with a factory data reset.
