Cast a Chrome browser tab or entire desktop to your Android TV from your computer

    This article shows you how to cast a Chrome™ browser tab, or the entire desktop, from your computer to an Android TV™ device.

    Note: Most web content will be displayed, but some plugins, like Silverlight, QuickTime, and VLC, will not work.

    Before you start

    To show Chrome on your TV, you’ll need:

    • An Android TV
    • A computer and Wi-Fi network with the minimum system requirements
    • Your TV and computer must be connected to the same network
    • The latest version of the Chrome browser must be installed on the computer
      Note:  For how to check the version, refer to the following:
      1. Click the MoreMore options icon in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser.
      2. Click HelpAbout Google Chrome.

    Cast a Chrome browser tab

    1. Launch the Google Chrome browser.
    2. Click the MoreMore oprtions icon in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser.
    3. Click Cast...
      • After Cast... is clicked, the cast icon appears next to the MoreMore Options icon and a Cast To window will appear.

      • When casting websites or apps like Netflix® service, YouTube™ videos, Stan, Presto, or Quickflix, tap the Cast icon on the app or the website.
    4. Select the TV model.

      Note: The Google Cast™ icon located on the top right corner of the Chrome browser appears in blue Active Cast icon when it's successfully connected to the TV.

    5. When you've finished, to the right of the address bar, click the CastCast icon icon → Stop.

    Cast your computer screen

    You can display your entire computer screen using the Chrome browser on a Mac®, Microsoft® Windows®, or Chromebook™ computer.

    Note: To hear audio on your TV, use a Windows® computer.

    1. Launch the Google Chrome browser.
    2. Click the MoreMore Option icon on the upper right corner of the Chrome browser.
    3. Click Cast...
      • After Cast... is clicked, the cast icon appears next to the MoreMore Options icon and a Cast To window will appear.

      • When casting web sites or apps like Netflix service, YouTube videos, Stan, Presto, or Quickflix, tap the Cast icon on the app or the web site.
    4. Select the TV model.
    5. Select Cast desktop.
    6. On Share your entire screen setting, click the screen image to share, tick share audio.
    7. Click Share.

    Cast videos, music, and media

    1. On the video or media that you're watching, click the Cast icon.
    2. You'll see the video or images on your computer and TV, but you’ll only hear sound on your TV. Sounds for other tabs and apps will still play on your computer.

    Cast music and videos from your computer

    1. Launch the Google Chrome browser.
    2. Click the MoreMore Options icon on the upper right corner of the Chrome browser.
    3. Click Cast...
      • After Cast... is clicked, the cast icon appears next to the MoreMore Option icon and a Cast To window will appear.

      • When casting web sites or apps like Netflix service, YouTube videos, Stan, Presto, or Quickflix, tap the Cast icon on the app or the web site.
    4. At the top, next to Cast to, click the Down arrow.
    5. Under Stream a video or audio file, click Cast file.
    6. Select a file.
    7. Choose the TV model where you want the file to play.

    Troubleshooting
