Note: The Amazon Alexa™ app is a mobile application provided by Amazon. You can access the Amazon Alexa app from your smartphone or tablet.
Follow these steps to connect your TV to the Amazon Alexa app:
- On the supplied TV remote control, press the HOME button.
- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Under Your apps, select See all → TV Control with Smart Speakers.
- Select Apps → TV Control Setup with Amazon Alexa.
- On the Home screen, select TV Control with Smart Speakers or TV Control Setup with Amazon Alexa.
Note: If you don't find the
TV Control with Smart Speakers or
TV Control Setup with Amazon Alexa app, your TV isn't supported.
- Follow the instructions according to the app selected.
Note: If a Google™ account is not registered on the TV, you'll need to register your account during this process.
TV Control with Smart Speakers app
- On the initial setup screen, follow the on-screen instructions to perform your setup.
- On the Privacy Policy screen, read through the policy as you scroll to the end, and if you agree, select Proceed to continue.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to sign in.
- Choose your TV name from the list.
Note: If you've already chosen your TV name during the initial setup, the name is listed at the top under Current TV Name.
- When the Select a smart speaker to connect to this unit screen appears, select Devices with Amazon Alexa.
- When the standby screen is displayed on the TV, continue setup from the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet.
- On the Amazon Alexa app, enable the Sony's TV skill.
Note: If Sony’s Google TV skill is already enabled on the Amazon Alexa app, you can say "Alexa, discover my devices" and skip the next step.
- On the Amazon Alexa app, input the same Google account that you previously chose, and then press the Discover button.
- After the device discovery is complete, the message Setup completed is displayed on the TV.
- Select Done to exit setup.
- Check if you can control the TV via your Amazon Alexa-enabled devices.
Note: Make sure you use the same name selected for your TV when making requests. For example, if the TV name is Living Room TV, say "Alexa, turn off Living Room TV".
TV Control Setup with Amazon Alexa app
- On the initial setup screen, click Next to continue, and then follow the on-screen instructions to perform your setup.
Note: Some steps and screens may vary depending on your TV menu and the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet.
- On the Privacy Policy screen, read through the policy as you scroll to the end, and if you agree, select Proceed to continue.
- On the Log in with Google screen, select Next.
- Choose your Google account and go to the next step.
Note: If a Google account isn't registered on the TV, register your account at this time.
- On the Choose an easy-to-say TV name screen, pick a name from the list or create your own.
Note: The name you select will be the name you tell Alexa to control your TV (example: "Alexa turn on Living Room TV").
- At the Finish on your smartphone or tablet screen, perform the following:
- Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet, locate Skills & Games, and then enable the Sony's TV - Basic skill.
Note: If the Sony's TV - Basic skill is already enabled, you can say "Alexa, discover my devices" and skip the following steps 2 and 3.
- Choose the same Google account that you previously chose during this setup.
- Ask Alexa to discover your devices.
- Select Done to exit this setup. Otherwise, ask Alexa to try the other available functions.
