Using hands-free voice search (only for TVs with a built-in MIC)

    You can search for content or operate the TV hands-free when the "Ok Google" detection setting is enabled.

    Not all TV models in the Series assigned to this article have built-in MIC capability. Check your TV manual for model-specific information. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

    Enabling / disabling the built-in MIC

    • Google TV models
      • Set the built-in MIC switch status on the TV to ON or OFF to enable or disable the microphone.
        Note: For more detailed information about the location of the built-in MIC switch, refer to your TV Manual. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
    • Android models
      1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Device PreferencesGoogle Assistant"Ok Google" detection.
        • Select Google"Ok Google" detection.

    Note: You can also enable the built-in MIC if you press the Google Assistant or MIC icon (Microphone) button on the remote control or select Google Assistant or MIC icon (Microphone).

    Using the built-in MIC

    When you face the TV and say "Ok Google", you can use the following features hands-free:

    • Voice search
    • TV operation

    Note: The Google Assistant or voice search with the built-in MIC requires an active internet connection.

    When you face the TV and say "Ok Google", the LED indicator lights up in yellow. You can then ask about things such as the weather forecast, or ask it to turn on the TV.

    • When the built-in MIC is enabled, the LED indicator stays lit in amber. To turn off this indicator:
      1. Open the Settings screen.
        • Use the Quick Settings button (For models released in 2019 or later)
          1. On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button
          2. Select Settings.
        • Use the HOME button
          1. Press the HOME button.
          2. Select Settings.
          3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
            • Select SystemLED indicator → disable Voice detection status
            • Select Device PreferencesLED indicator → disable Built-in MIC LED
            • Select LED indicator → disable Built-in MIC LED
    • You will also be able to use the built-in MIC when the TV is in standby mode.

      • This function will be available when the application is ready.
