My Android TV Turns on or off Automatically

    The instructions to resolve this issue vary depending on whether your Android TV™ device is turning on or off and the operating system (OS).

    Before You Start

    Check your TV OS version:

    1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Under TV category, use the arrow keys to select About.
    4. Scroll down and select Version to display the OS version of your TV.

    TV Turns on Automatically

    Follow the instructions according to your TV OS.

    • Android™ 8.0 Oreo™ operating system 
      • Set the Timer function to Off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Apps
        3. Select Timers.
        4. Select Timer.
        5. Select Off.
      • Set the Auto TV on, or TV auto power on setting of BRAVIA Sync settings to Off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Select External Inputs in the TV category.
        4. Select BRAVIA Sync settings.
        5. Select Auto TV on or TV auto power on.
        6. Set to Off.
      • Set the Remote Start, on theNetwork Settings to Off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Select Network in the Network & Accessories category.
        4. Select Remote Start.
        5. Set to Off.
    • Android 7.0 Nougat or earlier
      • Set the Timer function to Off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Timers.
        3. Select Timer.
        4. Select Off.
      • Set the Auto TV on, or TV auto power on setting of BRAVIA Sync settings to Off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Select External Inputs in the TV category.
        4. Select BRAVIA Sync settings.
        5. Select Auto TV on or TV auto power on.
        6. Set to Off.
      • Set the Remote Start, on the Network Settings to Off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Select Network in the Network & Accessories category.
        4. Select Remote Start.
        5. Set to Off.

    TV Turns off Automatically

    Follow the instructions according to your TV OS.

    • Android 8.0 Oreo
      • Set When to Sleep in Daydream or Screen Saver to Never.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Under the TV category, select Daydream or Screen Saver.
        4. Select When to sleep.
        5. Set to Never.
      • Set Daydream or Screen Saver to Backdrop or Colors.

        Note: To prevent screen burn-in, your TV will still go to sleep mode when Daydream or Screen Saver is set to Sleep or None, or when the When to Sleep is set to Never. However, this won't happen when your TV plays a program or movie.

        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Under the TV category, select Daydream or Screen Saver.
        4. Select Daydream or Screen Saver.
        5. Set to Backdrop or Colors.
      • Set Sleep Timer function to off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Apps
        3. Select Timers.
        4. Select Sleep timer.
        5. Set to Off.
      • Set Idle TV standby function to off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Under the TV category, select Power.
        4. Select Eco.
        5. Select Idle TV standby.
        6. Set to Off.

      Note: If your TV has the Auto shut-off function, turn it off.

    • Android 7.0 Nougat or earlier
      • Set When to Sleep in Daydream or Screen Saver to Never.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Under the TV category, select Daydream or Screen Saver.
        4. Select When to sleep.
        5. Set to Never.
      • Set Daydream or Screen Saver to Backdrop or Colors.

        Note: To prevent screen burn-in, your TV will still go to sleep mode when Daydream or Screen Saver is set to Sleep or None, or when the When to Sleep is set to Never. However, this won't happen when your TV plays a program or movie.

        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Under the TV category, select Daydream or Screen Saver.
        4. Select Daydream or Screen Saver.
        5. Set to Backdrop or Colors.
      • Set Sleep Timer function to off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Timers.
        3. Select Sleep timer.
        4. Set to Off.
      • Set Idle TV standby function to off.
        1. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Under the TV category, select Power.
        4. Select Eco.
        5. Select Idle TV standby.
        6. Set to Off.

        Note: If your TV has the Auto shut-off function, turn it off.
