Used to own a Sony KD-55AG OLED and have recently replaced it with the Sony XR-55A90J. What a step up in picture and sound quality. U have to say the XR-55A90J is gives an awesome viewing experience. Immensely comfortable in portraying fast moving motion in exquisite UHD detail with a bewildering colour spectrum & depth. Simply loving watching content on this TV. Best I’ve ever seen.

Had a wall built especially for it which we had been going to do 35 years ago

My old Pioneer a500 reference model TV died recently and I was becoming increasingly worried that I was not going to find a TV with the same if not better picture quality. That is until I came across the A90J & A95K Master series. I opted for the A90J model as I couldn’t tell the difference in picture quality between the 2 models. At closer glance, side by side review of both TVs, the A95K had slightly brighter picture but nothing major in my opinion. Both have built in heat sinks which was important to me. I think the A90J at £1499 is a great price.

I already own the 77 inch A90J and was so impressed I purchased the 83 inch model. The picture quality is superb, all other aspects of the TV are perfect. This TV is spectacular!

Superb tv, experience, design, look, sound, colour… etc

Bought this tv upgraded from a different manufacturer OLED and live the picture, sound and motion that this tv produces.

This TV has exceptional build quality and a brilliant picture. I bought this over the quantum OLED TVs that I’ve come out this year as LG used the Evo Pannell on the A90J and I prefer to wait a few more years for Samsung to get to build right because there are some minor issues with QD Oled compared with WOLED. Also, this TV shows the same XR processor and Mediatek cpu as many of the 2023 and 2022 TV’s I’m from master series television it’s still in my view the best Sony have ever made over built and with its heating. I don’t bring the brightness to go to amazing levels compared to older. OLED tvs. I don’t think there’s many of these around now, but if you get a chance grab one, it’s a Truly stunningly TV and the fact you can use it as a centre channel for a proper AV set up is great. Even the remote which is quite long is well built. Doesn’t flex doesn’t Creek and the fact that it has a gentle backseat key set up when moved is perfect. It’s just bright enough to say at night time without being glaringly bright. It’s a shame they couldn’t have included a slightly smaller remote. The new one is being. I think I did a bit better but it’s also quite nice to have almost every six conceivable button on one remote control anyway, which is very slim and very light and so much better than the old plastic remotes. I was glad I managed to get one of these. It’s a perfect set for my needs works brilliantly with the PS5 Google TV. Well the interface is a bit cluttered but you can cut that back and Bravia core has so much detail, but the file sizes are quite large so you need a good Internet connection. All in all there isn’t much difference between this TV and the ones coming out this year. In fact I would say this one is probably better built than some of the newer ones which use soft plastic. The A90J you could say was definitely over built but that’s not a bad thing at all the current prices it’s a bargain and you won’t really notice any difference. Compare with the current sets Sony are pushing out this year it’s just a shame they’re still stuck on Android 10. It be nice to see this and if you have a set upgraded to android 11 or 12. The only thing that lets it down is a rather cluttered interface and a lack of information about what every single setting does. Unlike most android products there seems to be so many ways to get to the same place. I can get a bit confusing at times, but once you get used to it end navigation is so far through the menus it’s a joy to use and put a grin on my face when I sit back and watch it in the evening or game on it during the day. Custom is probably the best setting and personally under clarity, I do use reality creation on auto it’s almost free do you like and the extra detail that AI puts into the image is quite incredible. Detail without over. Sharpening is the best picture I’ve ever seen on the TV and as mentioned earlier I think I’ll wait for Samsung to get there QUANUM DOT OLED to have a few issues ironed out. the evo WOLED Panel on and this TV is more very bright and has amazing detail and benefits from Sony exceptional motion handling.

Bought this a month ago. Perfect for gaming. A bit of OLED bleed when bought from the store but I hope it'll even out in the future.

I've been wanting a Sony TV for a really long time, through a recommendation of a friend who swears by Sony specifically. I can honestly say up to now (3-4 weeks), I've been blown away by how great the picture quality is and the overall speed of the interface. The image quality is fantastic for films, TV and gaming. I use it with a RTX 3080 gaming PC and it utilises 120hz with ease, although a Ultra High Speed HDMI certified cable is definitely needed, as my old cable wouldn't work with the Sony. The OLED image quality is second to none and this model also benefits from a heatsink to help reduce image retention. The 5 year warranty is also reassuring direct with Sony.

As with any Sony OLED, the picture quality and processing is superb, particularly the tone mapping. Also a huge fan of not messing with the colours too much (like Samsung). However, at this price point, WOLED panels with noticeable vertical banding ("dirty screen effect"), and (sporadically) dead pixels are not acceptable. Neither is a 1 (!) year warranty that doesn't even cover some of these issues. Something this expensive should be near faultless, and be supported for longer. My rating is based on observing these defects on my panel. I find the banding distracting in everyday viewing.

I love my new Sony tv, Stunning . The best tv I have ever had & Love watching it.

After some serious research and in-depth discussions at the local Curry's store with their tv buff, we dove into the wonderful world of Sony. We have had a few Sony items over the years but this one sure does stand out. Fantastic bit of kit at a decent price. what's not to like?

Beautiful pictures, very sharp and natural colours. The sound system is good enough so I've been able to get rid of my sound bar. While the UHD pictures are superb and there isn't much transmitted in UHD yet, the HD pictures seem to be much better with this than my previous TV set. My only negative comment is the stand is too wide. Although I was replacing 55" with 55", my table was too narrow to take this TV as the distance between the legs of the stand is about 44". This left me with a £250 extra expense that I had not bargained for.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and I am very pleased with the picture quality and the features. The design whereby the set sits directly on the unit has given that extra space has allowed me to go for a 55”, where previously I was limited to 49”

I did a lot of research before deciding on this TV and it has not disappointed. The picture really is incredible. Only criticism I have that it has crashed twice on the same night. Once it just became completely unresponsive and I had to turn it off at the wall, the second time it put itself into standby half way through a movie. It then advised of an available update, this has now been installed so hopefully the issues are now resolved. I'll have to wait and see!

Bought this to complement my PS5 and have been blown away with the image quality. GT7 with 120hz is a gamechanger. Dolby vision streaming has never looked as good.

I have always bought Sony products, when it comes to picture quality I personally don’t think they can be beaten

I have had the TV now for about 5-6 months and is my first true smart TV. I use it for both internet based apps access such as BBC iPlayer etc but also Freesat from an external dish (old Sky dish). The picture quality is excellent in all cases. The TV's sound is very good for what it is with surprisingly good bass. However it is not going to sound the same a a proper AV set-up with separate amp and speakers obviously. As with most smart TV's using native TV speakers etc there is a problem with clarity and volume when it comes to dialogue particularly in films. There are some settings you can use to try and tweak it a bit but basically at least a centre speaker needs to be added. Whilst on the subject of sound the TV has lost sound on apps such as TVX or iPlayer and no amount of changing settings will bring it back. The only way is to switch off unplug at the mains and leave it. I don't knowhow long you need to do this for some on forums say 10 mins I left mine 24 hours as I was away anyway. All was well once plugged back in. Updates are another weird thing I have set it to automatically keep up to date but it has randomly started updating whilst we are watching a program. I could do nothing but leave it and eventually after 30 mins or so I was able to get to react to the remote once again. However I can live with these few foibles as overall this a fantastic TV. I am yet to try other sources such as DVD player etc but I have no doubt it will equally impressive. My only reservation is for how long software updates will be available. My son has a Sony smart TV that is just about 5 years' old and updates are no longer provided therefore apps can no longer be supported/used

We tracked this model for a couple of years to get it at a more reasonable price. The picture when we link with Sky UHD is stunning. Sport especially is fantastic. Well worth the price now. The variety of streaming services through the Apps menu is more than enough for us. The sound on movies is quite immersive using the Dolby atmos settings. Watched Zulu, one of my favourite movies and felt like I was right there given the almost 3D feel.

Purchased a Sony a90j to replace my 7 year old lcd.straight from the box what a fantastic tv .The picture quality is superb and the sound quality is also excellent.

Replaced problematic LG TV with this Sony Bravia TV and we are very impressed with picture quality and quality build.

I bought this to replace a 12 year old sony 52" xbr 1080p tv, good upgrade on 1080p picture quality sound very much improved, way better than old sony tv. This tv shines when using 4k and dolby atmos just hard to get it there sometimes maybe just me not knowing how to set up exactly right. Great upgrade overall.

Having brought this Tv a week ago I must say the picture quality and sound are absolutely on point straight out of the box without even delving into the full functionality of what you can further curtail to your liking. Well done Sony.

I have owned this approximately 1 month, I have been blown away by the quality of this product. The whole screen acts as a speaker, the picture quality with streaming services like NFlix or anything in 4k blew me away. The blacks are super black and all other colours are super bright. Having voice recognition is also a massive plus, also suitable for the new high end gaming consoles running at 120htz.

Upgrading to the oled tv is definitely worth it the picture quality is amazing and overall I’m very happy with my purchase only negative is there’s no in-depth manual with it so had to rely on the internet to set the HDR features up but now I have what a difference it makes

Great functions and features. Good clarity of colour, and seamless integration with my existing tech.

Pretty dumb for a “smart tv” My relatively slow isp feed,(4-5MEGS) resulted in new tv with 4k capability becoming unbearable to watch! Long load times for the 4k content with no way to opt out of 4k! I solved by buying an hd apple tv box that will not load 4k content and configuring tv to only operate through the apple tv box. Sad and annoying to have to bypass smart tv and pay for additional equipment on a new product and deal with another remote for operating a new high end tv! If you don’t have at least 10 megs of bandwidth then a smart tv might not be worth much!

I purchased this tv about 2 months ago and it has exceeded my expectations the picture right out of the box is stunning i only made a few small adjustments. The set up was easy and the Google operating system is great and the sound coming from the screen is really good. Sony's customer service is first class.Overall this is an excellent television that i'm happy i purchased.

This is the second Sony that I purchased after the last one died just out of the 1 year warranty. It was the 2021 model. I have paid for an extended warranty but you expect these expensive TVs to last many more years. Love the picture quality, just not confident that the electronics are built to last.

Excellent tv. Terrible documentation. None proceeded of value with set. For $ 5,000 I was expecting much better.

I have 3 Sony tv’s and this by far is the greatest picture. The color are so brilliant and clear. Worth the extra money

I like this TV, it has arguable a slight better picture than my LG did, but I wear glasses. The user interface, Google stuff (prefer a more aggressive word) and the inconsistent eARC and HDMI issues with powering on/off my A/V receiver with the TV remote as well as switching inputs randomly etc makes me guarantee I don’t replace this TV with another Sony for sure, mostly hype I’m afraid.

As far as material possessions go, nothing has given my more pleasure.

I have had mine for nearly a year. The picture is superb and the sound is great. There are software issues though e.g. can't use certain streaming services whe the TV is recording to a USB HDD; connection to WIFI sometimes drops out for no reason; the EPG/ programme guide is awful; sometimes forgets picture settings. All not good on a TV at this price point. When you check for a software update their never is one. I find unplugging it when not in use helps as it completely reboots when you power it on again. The feet/stand design didn't suit so i had to buy a more conventional centre stand. Sony customer support is weak too. I bought mine with 5 years of warranty and registered straight away. After 1 year I getting emails from Sony saying my 1 year warranty is finished.... I had to jump through hoops to get my 5 years but did finally but without any kind of apology. For years I've been a Panasonic customer but then took a chance on Sony. I don't think that this has been my best decision.

Could do with pause and re-wind (30 min.) if you do not have an external pvr. Difficult to access inputs when wall mounted, unless fitted with an extending bracket. Brilliant sound and picture.

I have used this TV now for just over a week It took a period of careful research to decide whether to purchase the Sony A90J. I was torn between the A90J and A80J. After comparing the two side by side, I could appreciate the extra level of brightness, image quality, glossy screen with bezel free design and louder audio of the A90J compared to the A80J. The sleek design of the A90J won me over as well as the additional extra USB port (3 vs 2 on A80J). I also liked that the A90J had a ‘kill switch’ at the rear in case you want to disable the featured built in microphone. I had never owned a high-end TV before so the A90J was always going to impress (previous was a 5 year old budget 55" LED TV). My non-techy friends could immediately tell that this TV was something out of the ordinary. Even without my explaining the ‘surface’ audio system they all commented how good it sounded with the volume on low levels (5-20 vol). Everyone so far, have mentioned how good the TV looked when viewed from the side and that at times the ‘black’ was so good that the A90J appeared as though it had been switched off during movie cut-scenes. Removing the TV from the carton single handed was a lot easier than I expected as was getting it onto a TV stand such is the light weight compared to older LED TV’s of the same screen size. Setup took me less than 15 minutes. I simply plugged in an ethernet cable into the A90J from my router and was connected to the internet right away. I later purchased a USB 3 to ethernet adapter (branded Cable Matters from Amazon) that raised the A90J’s connection speed from the standard 100MBPs theoretical maximum to over 800MBPs so as to guarantee no buffering when streaming. I selected ‘Custom’ as the picture mode, turned down the brightness to around 40 and have been satisfied with the results whether in daylight or darkness. The addition of the Bravia Core app was very welcome as there are a few IMAX enhanced movies available to show off the A90J’s image quality. I purchased this TV in its second year of availability so all the updates had been applied and it wasn’t missing any features. Lastly my favourite feature is the remote which handily has illuminated keys in the dark when it is moved or picked up. I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a great OLED TV.

Great TV with excellent picture, some artifacts on motion but I have yet to tweak the standard settings. The TV has full UK catchup functionality (something I was unsure of prior to purchase) including ITVX. The android system is much quicker than my older AF8 65" Sony but still very limited built in storage....

I have this for 3 weeks now and I am absolutely happy with my purchase. The picture clarity, sound effect is brilliant. Easy to navigate home and menu screen. Netflix series look amazing on this !! They should have made the Sony logo a bit more visible , helps me show it proudly to my friends ;)

I've had my set less than a month, and absolutely love it. I have been trying to get back to a sony tv, for the last 4 years, and have settled for an LG, and a Vizio in the interim. Stayed away from this model because of the price. Got an alert that the price had dropped, though, not as much as I would have hoped for, and decided you only live once, Go For It! Though it took close to get it, I have been blown away with all aspects of The A90J. I made almost no adjustments, and the picture is absolutely fantastic. Full colors on most feeds, are indeed life like. I'm pretty sure that I will not stray away from Sony again. Well worth the price.

I am old enough to have evaluated many different manufacturers. So I am confident in stepping out of my comfort zone to try other products and vendors. I have always been a fan of Sony, but recently I ventured into the realm of Samsung QLED’s and purchased 3 units. I bought directly, added delivery and setup, and purchased the extended warranty. The primary 65” Q90T QLED 4K lasted 3 months and developed a line in the display screen. The 50” Q60T4K failed a few months later. The Frame QLED 4K is the only one still working. What is worse is that Samsung would not honor their warranty on 65” Q90T QLED 4K claiming the damage was done during installation and refusing to recognize that they delivered and set it up. So far, I am pleased with my Sony and continue to post about my experiences with Samsung. Keep your customers happy, and they will always return.

Bought this about 3 weeks ago but seem to have picture problems,Great in uhd but not so with anything else it won't stop switching to vivid. Put it in standard picture mode and it will within a few minutes switch to vivid so figure that.

I’ve had my XR55A90J for about a week. I’ve owned Sony’s all along. I’ve only one thing to say. Fricking awesome job Sony!!!! Thanks, Michael McCallum

I have had a Panasonic Plasma for the last 9 years and couldn’t bring myself to change it because of the fantastic picture but having bought the 55 inch A90J for my “Den” I immediately ordered a 65 inch A90J for our lounge as a replacement for the Panasonic the Sony TV was that good. The picture is absolutely perfect, the sound system is great even without a sound bar. All together the best purchase I have made in a long time.

We were advised by the expert in store that this television is the Rolls Royce of TV’s and he was right !

I had this Sony A90J for over nine months. Used with 500mb wireless broadband with Apple TV 4K 2021 and recently 2022. The reception is flawless. The picture quality at default literally felt like 3D when HDR modes are active. Dolby bright works best IMO with Apple TV 4K or using the Sony Bravia built in selections. Netflix, Disney, Amazon prime, HBO Max, and Apple TV plus all look pristine in 4K with A90J. YouTube 4K and HDR programs are fantastic. Almost as great as paid streaming. If you can put up with the annoying commercials. I tried the Sony PS5 also and the lag is minimal. Waiting for more HDR games from Sony.

Tv let down with poor feature. Jumps from hdmi input for no reason. Poor layout for hdmi inputs on the tv menu
