Excellent for the human voice

Well suited to the frequency bands characteristic of human voices, the ECM-G1 captures vocal audio clearly and distinctly. It's ideal for shooting vlogs of product reviews and interviews.

Large-diameter, 14.6mm microphone capsule

A larger capsule for high-quality sound

Built around a large-diameter (14.6mm) microphone capsule, the ECM-G1 provides a high-quality audio track similar to high-end dedicated audio recorders, with clear, clean sound capture and effective noise suppression.

Wind screen for trouble-free outdoor shooting

The ECM-G1 comes with an easily detachable wind screen that can reduce wind noise when shooting outdoors under windy conditions.

Anti-vibration construction

The vibration-suppressing design of the ECM-G1 helps reduce minor bumps and mechanical noise, such as when focusing or zooming. When connected via a Multi Interface (MI) Shoe, the cable-free setup eliminates any possibility of cable-transmitted vibration noise.

Highly directional, compact shotgun design

Super-cardioid pickup for front-focused audio capture

Capture sound in front of the camera and suppress ambient noise

The super-cardioid characteristics of the ECM-G1 are ideal for vlogging and other productions where you want to concentrate on sounds coming from the front of the camera, while suppressing ambient noise, echo and voice reverberation.

Small and lightweight, for excellent portability

Small enough to stay out of your way

Compact, unobtrusive design

At less than 50mm (1.97 inches) in length and 34 grams (1.4oz) in weight, the ECM-G1 is highly portable to bring along to any shoot location. The clever design has no dangling cables, remaining clear of both viewfinder use and your framed shot, even when using wide angles lenses – making it ideal for tight vlogging shots.

Small enough to stay in place

Leave your microphone attached and ready to use at a moment's notice

The unit is light in weight (34 grams / 1.2 ounces) and super-compact in size (48.5mm / 2 inches). This provides flexibility and mobility when you're shooting – so much so that there's no need to detach and reattach it between shoots. The back of the microphone won't touch your forehead when you're looking through the viewfinder, and setup is easy even with gimbals and grips.

Cable-free, battery-free operation via a MI Shoe

Cable-free confidence

Connecting the microphone via a compatible MI Shoe means you don't have to worry about noise being transmitted mechanically through cable connections or cables getting in the way of your shot, for greater portability when shooting.

Battery-free convenience

When you attach the ECM-G1 to the MI Shoe of any of Sony's compatible cameras, power is supplied directly from the camera to the microphone. This lets you handle extended shooting sessions without the microphone battery running out.
