I thought the Mk1 was good until I got the Mk2! Noticeably lighter in use, fab quality, I seldom use anything else. I use it for fast action sports, 50% of the time in low light so the wide aperture is very handy. With the Sony A7Riv & v I can get the reach by cropping and if I need to get closer for posed shots I just step back a bit to get it all in. I haven't needed to traipse around with other lenses or bodies for a long time - very happy :)

This lens is simply incredible, sharp, light, and beautifully designed.

I bought this lens about a month ago for HS sports photography and video. Ive paired it with the A7RIII and A7III, respectively. The lens is very responsive to high speed action. Both photos and video are very sharp. I'm so glad I bought it.

For a lens like this, the weight is so good. Light but reliable. Fast AF and beautiful bokeh. My best buy.

In spite of some poor reviews I thought that the Mk 1 version of this lens was pretty good but the Mk 2 version is in a different league and one the best lenses that I have ever used. While still no lightweight it is significantly lighter than the Mk 1 lens and the already impressive AF is now blazingly fast. Image quality is also now improved most noticeably in the corners. A remarkable piece of engineering and probably the best 70-200 available on this planet.

I purchased this lens recently and have been very impressed. The large sensor on my A7R4 is unforgiving and this lens brings out the true potential in the camera. Focussing is great and the images are sharp and clear. A great lens!

Bought for a landscape trip and very happy with the quality of photos. The zoom range is excellent for landscape composition.

Absolutely love the weight reduction of the mark II. It is no doubt the best improvement amount all the other ones. Focusing speed is also dramatically improved. Image quality wise the original 70-200 was already really good (I think I had a good copy) so while the mark 2 is fantastic it didn’t wow me. Overall a worthy upgrade from the original.

The things I love about this lens are: 1. It's very light 2. A fast aperture of 2.8 3. Fast auto focus 4. Great bokeh 5. Eleven blade aperture 6. Very sharp

Just switched from Canon to Sony after 30 years. I am not that happy about the picture quality as Canon does. Hope I will slowly get my hands on. I am not going to add any photos of my clients at this movement. check my instgrame: rohan_herath_photographer. The 70-200 f2.8 ll lens is super light and very smooth to use. overall I love the lens.

I bought this to replace an older 70-200 f4.0 and noticed the improvement in sharpness straight away. Focus lock is quicker too

Having had this Lens for 10 days now I am impressed with its speed of focusing & the image quality it produces over the entire focus range.

Sony really knocked it out of the park with this lens. The weight saving over other 70-200mm f2.8 lenses was the biggest draw for me, but they've managed that with a lens that still feels top quality, is very sharp, has very nice bokeh and extremely fast and accurate autofocus. The only negative is the price, but to be fair it is in keeping with today's crazy prices for camera equipment.

I bought this lens 2 weeks ago and just couldn’t put it down since.. I used it to test everything and just performs perfectly. Quick, light, easy to handle and super sharp (same as my prime lenses). Best investment so far in my photography.

Used this lens for the first time to photograph my nephews wedding. The images were so sharp and feels half the weight of my older Nikon lens.

After moving from Nikon to Sony A1 along with Sony 24-70 2.8 gm mk2 and Sony 200-600mm lens. I felt it was time to include the new Sony 70-200 2.8 GM Mk2 well what can I say, super light, great build quality and superb rendition from the lens. Yes it's a fair bit of money but I feel money very well spent. I always use my Sony A1 with the sony battery grip and even then it is so light in the field. Focus acquisition is instant and remarkably silent, with tracking that matches the A1 for a match in heaven. If you are hesitating about buying this lens, just do it, I guarantee you won't be disappointed at all. S stands for Sony and S also stands for Stunning

Although I have only used this lens a few times since receiving it, I am already in LOVE with this baby! It focuses very fast, has essentially no vignetting or distortion at the extremes, and the barrel action is smooth. I sold my Sony 24-105 to purchase this lens, and do not regret it one bit! Just a fantastic lens all around.

So light and sharp - with 2xTC and camera on crop it makes nearly 600mm.

Hi Am i doing something wrong i bought the lens from Amazon and when i finally got it i started testing it out I am Using ILCE-7RM4 with FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II. I noticed that the Eye Auto Focus function works in Photo mode but in Video Mode The Eye Auto Focus white Box comes On but i am unable to Focus Hold it on Eye Auto focus. Is this Normal i looked up on the Lens - Compatibility Information and both my camera and lens are fully compatible.

This lens looks the business. I really do feel like a pro walking along with this in front of me. The image quality, though I'm still learning, seems staggering crisp and I like the way I can control aperture and focus on the lens itself as apposed to on the camera. My only slight issue with it is the size makes it pretty difficult to get away with any candid shots. (Just tell people you work for a local paper and you'll have them posing and smiling!) My first impression was it seemed just a tad big for my A74 body but I'm getting used to it. The weight doesn't bother me too much although you certainly notice it when on a longish walkabout. I bought it mainly for sports photography and it does seem like a very capable tool for that the few times I've used it for that. I've ordered a 2x teleconverter to extend its reach so I'll let you know how that goes. Hope that helps someone to decide.

So much lighter than my MK1 which is the heaviest 70-200 i've ever owned? The images look awesome, and the autofocus is very quiet.

A huge improvement on the Mark I version. Much sharper and the lighter weight is really appreciated.

You can tell that Sony engineers worked hard on this lens. The optics are superlative, the focus is lightning fast even wide open and it is so light weight.. Using this lens feels like cheating.

Tried out the mark I version and it was a 4/5. The missing 1 was because of the weight. A definite must have for travel photography!

Great lens, expensive but very happy with it. Solid built, high quality and pin sharp photos. I was looking at the F4 version due to the weight but when this mkii F2.8 was released it was significantly lighter than its predecessor so I took the plunge and I’m glad I did. It’s very easy to carry around all day and easily accessible features. If you are thinking about buying this lens then go ahead it is worth the money.

This amazing lens was an upgrade for me - and well worth it. I used the previous model for years and produced impressive results during treks through Sicily, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. After experiencing this new model of an old standard at my local photography store, I ordered this new lens immediately. It has the same form, fit and function of the OSS I, but the OSS II is substantially lighter weight. I've tried the new lens briefly since I received it about a month ago and I am super impressed with the overall performance of the lens - not only is it lighter in weight, but the auto-focus seems to be much faster. Highly recommended whenever you need the 70-200 range. As a side note, with the light weight I can imagine paring this lens with my C7 in reserve/back-up for my A7R IV with a wide angle.

Most versatile telephoto I’ve ever used by far! It’s super lightweight compared to the previous version, to the point where it feels closer to the F/4 version. I can carry this around all day shooting handheld portraits, street, and wildlife. Absolutely stunning resolution too.

Excellent sharpness, razor sharp focusing and lightning quick. Build quality is superb and lens seems very lightweight when on camera. Very pleased and would definitely recommend.

Bought this a few weeks ago. Had been using the mkI. This one is so much lighter, faster, easier to use. With old one I used a monopod for football shots. No need with this. Handles low light and floods fantastically. Not cheap but so worth it.

This is the best 70-200 I've owned. Had the canon, this one blows it away.

I had been renting the previous version for over a year. As I got closer to purchasing my own is when I noticed this one was coming out. I waited and added myself to a reserve list in my city. Once I got it I was able to put it to the test, Ive had it for only a couple of weeks. I have mostly done portraits with it and it is amazingly sharp and way lighter than the previous model. This is my first G-Master lens and I'm in love with the results I get when paired with my A1.

I upgraded from the mk I which was a fantastic lens so expectations were high. The first thing you notice is just how light this lens is, it weighs practically nothing! Using it with my A1 is just such a combination of speed and sharpness and you really get to see why they needed to upgrade the mk I to accommodate for the A1's superior specifications. It's not cheap but definitely worth the upgrade in my opinion 100%.

Bought due to lighter weight than previous version. Even more pleased with focus speed and hold.
