October 7, 2003, Makuhari, Japan - "Mobile Movie" compatible products will be showcased at the "Memory Stick Pavilion" during CEATEC JAPAN 2003 (October 7 - 11, 2003, Chiba Makuhari Messe).

Since its introduction in September 1998, Memory Stick has steadily expanded its market share. Worldwide cumulative shipments of Memory Stick media and compatible products have reached 50 million respectively this fall. Currently a total of over 480 companies as of the end of September 2003 have expressed support for Memory Stick, and the number of Memory Stick compatible products continues to increase rapidly. To expand the enjoyment and convenience of Memory Stick's network further to also encompass a variety of products offline, "Mobile Movie," a new Memory Stick application that enables recorded video content to be played back on a wide range of mobile products at any time and any place, was proposed on September 5, 2003.

KDDI CORPORATION and OKINAWA CELLULAR TELEPHONE COMPANY yesterday announced a "Mobile Movie" compatible mobile phone as "Mobile Movie" expands into the mobile phone market. With "Mobile Movie," users can now record analog terrestrial television programs or any other such video content* onto a Memory Stick and then play it back on various compatible devices while on the go.
*Only conventional TV broadcasting (analog terrestrial broadcasting) and video input, copy-free content can be recorded.

In addition to KDDI's mobile phone, television sets, compact portable television & video recorder, handheld, and Memory Stick compatible video recorder will also be displayed at the pavilion as "Mobile Movie" compatible products announced or currently available in Japan*. "Mobile Movie" will expand into a wider range of mobile products and in-car devices, in Japan and overseas. By adding video recording and playback to its existing applications such as still image and music recording and playback, the Memory Stick-connected world will further expand.

Following on from CEATEC JAPAN 2001 and 2002, Memory Stick supporters will once again join the Sony Memory Stick pavilion. Memory Stick products and applications from more than 45 companies supporting Memory Stick will be showcased and demonstrated at the pavilion in an environment that recreates scenes from daily life divided into four stages: "CAR," "HOME," "OUTDOOR," and "OFFICE." The newly introduced high-speed data transfer Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo, a miniaturized new generation Memory Stick "Memory Stick PRO," will also be displayed at the pavilion.

"Memory Stick" will continue to evolve as a platform to connect customers with content and services.
