Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is developing a process for creating audio descriptions and captions* for use when movies are screened in cinemas or released on DVD/Blu-ray releases. These features enable more people to enjoy movies.*1
ANIMAX, a channel that provides an entertainment experience through Japanese anime culture, and Kids Station, a channel dedicated to children's content and anime, support captions for more than 80%*3 of the programs they broadcast each year. Although the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has not set a specific numerical target for providing captions for communications satellite broadcasts, we work to achieve the 80% target so that as many people as possible can enjoy our anime and children's programs. *4
We also consider the accessibility of venues for events such as ANIMAX MUSIX and Hapicla Concerts held by ANIMAX and Kids Station. For example, even if a venue does not have dedicated wheelchair facilities, we provide space for wheelchair guests, and the ANIMAX-produced ANIMAX Cafe+ is equipped with an elevator that connects directly to the interior for wheelchair and stroller access.
